About Me
It's never easy to sum up your interests, goals, experiences, dreams, and skills in a couple of paragraphs but here it goes:
I am currently a student at the University of Washington in Seattle studying computer science out of a love of engineering and technology. I have always enjoyed building things, in fact, I think Legos were my first true love, so engineering was a natural choice. The computer science half of the equation wasn't always so clear considering I thought coding consisted of ordering 1's and 0's up until the time I joined college. But I took my first programming class, couldn't get enough of it, and decided that I wanted to build things in this programming world that you can practically do anything.
But enough with the career side of me. On any given day you can find me rock climbing, a sport that isn't always the easiest with a 215 lb 6'2" build, or biking. Soccer is the one sport that I have kept up with, although I am the worst runner in the world so I choose to stay back and play keeper. I let my nerdy side come out too, especially when it comes to games.
If I was to sum myself up I would describe myself as someone that strives for adventure, not to have a story to tell afterwards but to actually experience the richness of a new environment and challenge. I am always looking for people that can teach me something and are looking to learn something in return.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
A couple of months ago I was thinking about how long I have been in school. Going from 12 years of grade school straight into college made me feel like I have been on the same track for too long and that I needed a little detour. At the same time my brother decided to bike across Europe, from Lisbon, Portugal to Istanbul, Turkey. This was exactly the trip I was looking for, an adventure to get off the beaten path. We are traveling 7000 km through 10 countries looking to meet amazing people along the way to share bits of our adventure with. Couchsurfing seemed like the perfect place to meet people that would be able to show us the local side of the cities we will be visiting in exchange for a story or two about our travels so far.
