About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I want to find some time to get away from working and travel outside the loop I've created between Delaware and Rhode Island
ABOUT ME
I'm a professional lighting designer for theater, dance and music based out of the Philadelphia area. I've recently taken on a full-time position at a college as the Coordinator of Event Technology. It's a lot of what I do in theater, but a lot of collaboration with other deparments that I really enjoy. After spending most of my life in Philadelphia, and the past few years summering at a barn theater in Rhode Island, I'm hoping to get out and explore some more. I'm pretty shy (not to be confused with reserved) so I'm hoping to learn to approach people more often and to be more approachable.
I've been a member of the Philadelphia FINS Masters swim team since August 2007. The FINS is a LGBTQA team associated with International Gay and Lesbian Aquatics Association (IGLA). I don't get myself to practice nearly enough.
Yes, I am gay.
Getting back into photography. Sony user, but can nerd out about any brand.
I love sushi. My favorites are unagi, sweet potato rolls, and shrimp tempura rolls.
I enjoy going out to bars to enjoy the different brews available; stouts are my favorite. Every now and then I'll go out to the clubs to dance, and enjoy taking hip-hop dance classes. Don't party like my younger 20's, but I can throw down when the time is right :)
The thing that makes me most happy about moving into West Philly is that I can ride my bike to get places. My bike exudes the geek in me. Pake Rumrunner track frame with a 2-speed auto switching SRAM Automatix coaster hub. I heart it. Part of me wants to get a second bike, but I can't decide if I want a training frame or an off-roading one.
My car, a yellow 2005 Ford Focus ZX3, is named Pete. After a character from the show "Warehouse 13". I kinda think I bought him to contrast my then bike's color as their blu and amb are complementary.
PHILOSOPHY
Go with the flow, but when there is a fork in the path take the path that looks more weird.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am looking to travel. I can also act as a guide for any surfers in Philadelphia.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I haven't done any couchsurfing, yet. One of my friends has gotten pretty active in it and I love meeting the people that surf with him. They are incredibly diverse and I learn new things about the experience that Philadelphia is through them.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm not big on books- I spend enough time engaged in scripts for shows I'm working on.
Movies: Love me some Tarantino and Rodriguez. DeathProof is my favorite. Love queer cinema and need to find more time to indulge myself with it.
Music: I have eclectic tastes. There are some showtunes I love like "Get Out and Stay Out" from 9 to 5 and "Always a Bridesmaid" from ILYYPNC. I've got some classic rock like "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" and Santana. Love the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Love Ke$ha. Love EDM. Anything I can dance to.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I had the amazing experience of programming the lighting for Sting's performances of the songs from his musical "The Last Ship" as a benefit for the Public Theater in NYC. I love musicals, and getting to be involved in the evolution of a new one blew my mind.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm very knowledgeable about technical theater, though my strong suits are lighting design, lighting programming, theater electrical and theater carpentry.
I'm also very knowledgeable about photography; I've been doing it since I was 13 and have some professional experience in it.
I want to learn about working on the mechanical workings of cars. I understand the basic concepts, but would love to know more about the practical implementation of engineering concepts like airflow and timing
What I Can Share with Hosts
My warm heart and personal experience. I'm not much for academic conversation, but love engaging in conversations about the experiences we've had as people and how they have shaped who we are. Learning about others allows us to learn about and improve ourselves.
