Overview
About Me
Hi! I am Josephine!
I am currently a junior (3rd year) college student majoring in archaeology and minoring in history. I am a complete travel addict and obviously a history and culture nerd. I am eager to explore the world and immerse myself in the differing cultures and experiences that await around every turn. I love learning, so traveling for me is more than just being a tourist but involves trying to understand or even attain a brief glimpse of the heart of a community and an area.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Although it is true that I am couch surfing because I am a broke college student, I also am excited at the opportunity to surround myself with people who live locally. As I elaborated upon above, I want to see more than just the tourist attractions, I want to interact with the people who live there, listen to there stories and leave with having learned something from where I stayed.
Interests
Being an archaeology major in the US means that it is a concentration in the wider discipline of Anthropology. And a huge part of anthropology is studying cultures. The little traveling that I have done has enabled me to really apply some of the copious amounts of research and readings that I have conducted throughout my college career, and it is invigorating! To be able to apply something I learned, or visit some place I read about is truly a dream come true for me! Also loving archaeology and history as I do, many places, especially in Europe, are literally places of my dreams, and possibly even places that I someday wish to work.

Music, Movies, and Books
I am never sure how to classify my musical interest. I listen to a bit of everything, although I really enjoy independent music, and some with a relaxed jazzy feel (like Norah Jones). Movies, I love movies! As any of my friends can attest I am a big movie quoter and I especially enjoy a goofy comedy like Elf, The Grinch (Jim Carrey version), Anchorman, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, well you get the point. As far as books go, my favorite category is definitely the Classics. My favorite author is Jane Austen and I feel that the writing in classic novels is far superior to most of the literature today. Although I do still thoroughly enjoy contemporary commercial literature, at the moment Game of Thrones has my heart.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Seesh one amazing thing I've done, I am horrible at these personal life probing questions. Umm well I would have to say studying abroad, which I am doing right now! Even though I have only just begun my time abroad the experiences and friendships that I have already made I know will stick with me forever and offer me a plethora of vital life experiences.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Well I can share what I know about my country. But it is as we often discuss in my anthropology courses, it is extremely difficult to analyze and observe your own environment. Everything seems too familiar, and for a lack of a better word 'normal.' So what I can offer with whom I am staying is an outsiders perspective a comparison of differing cultural attributes and ideas and of course some fun stories.
