ABOUT ME

You might notice in my references that people call me Josephine. Recently I moved to Israel to start my new life here, and when I did, I changed my name to Sophia. It hasn't been easy but I have loved every minute of it. Right now I am studying political science in th university here in Herzliyah and learning about the political situation in Israel and the Middle East. I used to be a pastry chef but now I think I would like to work as a diplomat or in international relations in some capacity. I still love to cook but just for myself and my friends.

PHILOSOPHY

The more I learn, the more I realise that I know very little. Never stop searching for knowledge.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I haven't surfed in CS for a few years now and I miss it very much. The summer I spent in Europe couchsurfing was one of my most treasured memories. Right now I live with 2 other roommate and I am not sure how keen they are on couchsurfing and having strangers sleeping on our couch. With time I hope to persuade him to join the couchsurfing revolution. I really want to give back. Many people have been writing to me asking me about Israel and I am more than happy to share my experience about this amazing country. Keep writing! I love it.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I joined CS in 2009 and was quite active for a while in my hometown, Montreal, and in Europe but I have recently become a bit preoccupied with my new life here in Israel and have not given back as much as I would have liked. I hope that can change soon. I have had experience surfing in Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany and it has been mostly positive. I have had a few run ins with troubled people but for the most part it has been amazing and I have met some really interesting people.

Favourite movies include shawshank redemption, Edward Sissorhands, Run Lola Run (the original), Star Trek (the newest one), The Lion King (don't laugh, its really deep stuff), The Departed, Blood Diamond, Last King of Scotland, Amelie Poulin, Kill Bill I and II, reservoir dogs, Gladiator, A Beautiful Mind, Life is Beautiful, The Pianist, True Romance, The Great Escape, The Sting, the list goes on and on.
I love the Beatles, Sublime, Led Zeppelin, Simon and Garfunkel, Pink Floyd, Smashing Pumpkins, The Cranberries, Eric Clapton, John Lennon, Johnny Cash, Marilyn Manson, Moody Blues, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Aphex Twin, System of A Down, Aqua, Tracy Chapman, Rhapsody, Apocalyptica, Metric, Lady Gaga (I really love her!). I am really open to many types of music but you wont find me listening to gangster rap or much country (although I do like some country like Dolly Parton and some dixie chicks).
My favourite book is Anna Karenina. Lady Chatterly's Lover is also up there with Little Women, Hamlet, Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, East of Eden, 1984, etc...

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

There is not one thing that I have done or seen that I can point out as truly amazing. I am so blessed for all opportunities I have had. Everything that I have seen and done has been amazing in one way or another. I just keep it going for as long as I possibly can.
If I could name just one thing amazing that I have done in my life is in June 2009 I sat on the rooftop of a hotel watching the moon rise over the Jordanian mountains in the Arab city of Aqaba, the southern tip of Jordan just across the border from Eilat, Israel. My dear friend and I smoked lemon mint narghila. Next time I see him will be on a week-long jeep tour of Egypt.
