About Me

Trying to clock in as much traveling as I possibly could with the limited number of leave days I get from work. And also not to back track to cities I've already been to -- although for some reason it's not working out as well as I'd like it to be!

When I'm back home in Singapore, it's a lot of time spent at work. My current job is not as crazy as it used to be, but alas. Outside of work I'm a huge yoga and gym fanatic. I'm not really good at yoga but I do enjoy pushing my limits and challenging muscles which I didn't even know existed in my body. On occasional Wednesdays, most Fridays and almost always the weekends, you'll find me armed with a whiskey dry or a glass of white either in a restaurant enjoying a fabby meal with my friends or relaxing in a bar.

That's it, really. If you want to know more you've just gotta ask : )

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

BECAUSE IT'S LIKE THE MOST AMAZING CONCEPT.

I have trouble explaining to people around me how this works. Most people just think it's dodgy -- and fair enough, yes, I've met some creepy people over CS -- but majority of the people I've been lucky to be hosted by or hosted were beyond fantastic. In fact, I still keep in touch with so many of them!

- Was hosted in Boston by Lester and Jeffrey
- Was hosted in Lisbon by Ivan
- Was hosted in Rome by Paolo
- Was hosted in Milan by Giuseppe
- Was hosted in Munich by Stefan
- Was hosted in Berlin by Johannes
- Was hosted in Amsterdam by Zeph
- Was hosted in Antwerp by Dominique
- Was hosted in Brugges by Cindy, Stefan and kids
- Was hosted in Lyon by Jeremie and Emilie
- Was hosted in Paris by Sylvain and Stephanie
- Showed Tracy around

I haven't had a chance to do much of couchsurfing these days, both being a couchsurfer or a host, because of time constraints. I'm trying to kill that as an excuse, so if you fancy a local bringing you around town for a meal or a drink (oh who am I kidding, it'll most likely be drinkssssssss), feel free to drop me a note!

P.S. Weekends are the best and weekday nights are mostly do-able as long as you give me a heads up!

Interests

Traveling, YOGA, watching grey's anatomy (my emotional attachment to grey's is very real), karaoke, food (fancy restaurants, grubby street food, anything goes), bumming on a beach with my ipod and a good book.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: My current indulgence's edm - Hardwell, Tiesto, Alesso, Calvin Harris, Dash Berlin, Kaskade, Cash Cash, Avicii, Zedd, and then of course classic pop like Taylor Swift, Maroon 5, Tove Lo, Lykke Li, Coldplay, Sam Smith, John Legend, John Mayer, wow I could literally go on all day.

Movies: My all time favourite has got to be Love Actually. I watch it every Christmas.

Books: Way. too. many. to. list.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It's probably more incredulous and stupid rather than amazing, but I once ended up taking a Greyhound for 37 hours traveling from Miami to New York. Don't ask me why I did it (disclaimer: I wasn't stoned) but I did get a chance to discover a hell lot of the US during that ride. You lose some you gain some, I suppose.

Teach, Learn, Share

I speak 5 languages - English and Mandarin fluently; Cantonese, French and Thai less so, but I'll be more than happy to teach what I know. And really practise French and Thai because they're both horrendously rusty.

I'll also be more than happy to share any food recommendations for Singapore, and really any other countries I've travelled to or lived in over the past couple of years.

Unfortunately I won't be able to host given that I still live with my parents (you'll come to realise it's quite a common phenomenon in Singapore, which really is worthy of another story altogether : D) but I'll be more than happy to show visitors around, have good local food and do drinks!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Singlish, because it's so freaking cool and awesome and it's almost like a language that no one can master unless you're a Singaporean. I kid you not. But it's still fun to have people try ha!

And basically whatever I know - my brain is yours to tap on!
