Overview
About Me
I'm a recent Princeton University graduate traveling around this summer before moving to NYC in September to work in the theater industry.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I lived in NYC for a month or so last year without actual housing, just bouncing around among friends and extended friend networks' places. It wasn't until later that I heard of this website, so I figured I'd check it out next time I traveled.
Once I'm settled in NYC, I'd like to be able to provide a couch since rates to stay there can be so ridiculous.
Interests
I'm very into theater, movies, fiction writing, basically storytelling in all its many forms. I'm going into theater professionally, and also write screenplays on the side.
I have the capacity to get fascinated in practically anything, particularly if it's something sort of hidden in plain sight (like, how does the software behind crosswalk signalling work? That sort of machinery of everyday life type thing.)

Music, Movies, and Books
Books: As far as contemporary authors go, I love Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, and Jim Butcher. Currently rereading the Terry Brooks Shanarra series just because. For a completely random sampling of more classical stuff, I like Don Quixote, On the Nature of Things by Lucretius, The Odyssey.
Theater: My favorite living playwright is Tom Stoppard. I also love the Stephens (Sondheim and Schwartz), Alex Timbers/Michael Friedman, and Lin-Manuel Miranda.
Shakespeare: My favorite play of his changes depending on what I'm working on at any given time (right now I'm obsessed with Henry VI parts 1, 2, and 3), but The Tempest and A Midsummer Night's Dream are always up there for me.
Music: I will listen to really good music of any genre, but you're most likely to catch me listening to musical cast recordings (Fantasticks, Next To Normal, and the Love's Labour's Lost Michael Freidman adaptation especially), classic rock, alternative rock, or something without lyrics while reading/writing (classical or dubstep by my mood). I get really into good rap, but don't listen to it as often. One more note: I own an original copy of the Pokemon "2 B A Master" CD and love it unironically.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My thesis was a piece of theater about student mental health, so I interviewed a bunch of students and faculty then wrote, directed, and produced the play. Getting the feedback from people who saw the show and had it impact them was pretty amazing.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: I can teach anyone a convincing basic stage slap in 10-20 minutes. For anything more advanced (punches, kicks, grapples, swords, etc.) it would be a longer process, but in 2-3 hours you could get a good grounding in stage combat.
I also teach acting & public speaking, so if you want input on an upcoming audition, work presentation, or anything like that I'm happy to help.
Learn: I'm always looking to learn just about anything, but I am trying to work particularly on my Spanish right now.
Share: I've become a pretty decent cook in the last couple of years, so I'd be happy to cook dinner for the house if my hosts were interested in that.
I've been told I have a gift for personalized reading/watching recommendations so if you're between books or looking for a good movie, I might have thoughts.
