I'm an easy-going British man in his late thirties who enjoy meeting new people and exploring places/ideas together.

I work as a captioner/subtitler and I've always had a passion for learning languages. Otherwise, I'm keen on live music, cinema, walking, camping, coddiwompling, galleries, museums, pilates, swimming, cricket, growing fruit and vegetables, cooking, foraging, birdwatching, basket-weaving, wood-carving music festivals.

As I visit new places, I'm interested in learning more about public art, migrant histories, food (production), crafts (especially textiles and basketry), and rituals of remembrance.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I recently completed a PhD in translation studies and I am heading to the Americas for several months before embarking on the next stage of my career/life. My loose plan is to start in New York, then travel to Canada (where I have family), before heading to Mexico and eventually to Colombia.

I would like to meet along the way, to learn about different histories, cultures and languages.

I'm also learning Yiddish and would love to meet fellow learners/speakers during my travels, in particular in the US, Canada and Mexico.
