Overview
About Me
I am a Master's student in Latin American Studies at Stockholm University and currently supporting myself through the degree by working as a cover teacher in a middle school part-time. I have come to love Stockholm and feel quite at home here - I guess learning Swedish helps that somewhat!
I'm an adventurous lad and I have a passion for travelling and languages. I've loved travelling since I was a teenager, and I have visited many places around the world. I am always looking for a new adventure and challenge, and I love learning new things.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have been a Couchsurfer for 8 years now, and have surfed in 7 different countries (not that many, I'm trying to change that). I have also hosted surfers when I was living Algeciras, Spain. Recently, I've not been able to host because I have been living with my family, but I love hosting travellers, and as soon as I can host again, I will! I also like to go to meetups and language exchange events, love a bit of socialising!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have surfed in Canada, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Brazil, Spain and Morocco. I love sharing experiences with my surfers and my hosts, and I love cooking and eating together. Food is such a incredible tool of unity, and I just love cooking! I also like to go with my guests around town if I can, or have my host show me around the area if they are available.
Interests
Travelling is my Number 1 passion, closely followed by languages and being outdoors. I'm a keen geographer and linguist. I am very in-tune with the environment and feel strongly about taking action against climate change. I like to cycle as much as I can - it keeps me fit, it is free, and it helps tackle carbon emissions and traffic problems. I like to escape to the countryside to do hiking, swimming in lakes, rivers or the sea, and go camping. I join the fight for indigenous rights in places like Chile, Brazil and Australia. I enjoy going out and dancing and going to gigs, just as much as I like going to Film Festivals, art exhibitions and public lectures and seminars. I have a newlyfound interest in postcolonialism, decoloniality and the colonial difference thanks to my studies. I am working to decolonise knowledge and power structure for a fairer world.

Music, Movies, and Books
I have drifted away from Pop a bit recently, but I will always love some pop princesses. Now, I listen mostly to groovy, bassy beats like house, deep house, lounge, disco and anything that I can groove along to really. I love my Latin music, my cumbia, tumbao, reggaeton, salsa, bachata etc.
I'm reading books at the moment about Buddhism, and Hinduism, mainly about Eastern practices, so that I can get a different perspective on things. "Siddhartha" by Hermann Hesse is nice. I am also reading a lot of books to prepare me for my Master's - so books about Latin American identity, gender issues, indigenous rights and postcolonialism.
I like going to film festivals, such as the UNHRW London 2019 and Flare, the UK's LGBTQ+ Film Festival 2019. I saw some good films including "Ghost Fleet" and "Esta Todo Bien". I prefer international and artsy cinema to big business hollywood films.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Travelled around Latin America for 8 months by myself when I was just 18.
Teach, Learn, Share
What goes around comes around and you must be conscious of your actions before committing them in order to avoid regretting them later in life, beit sooner or later.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am a fantastic cook and love sharing recipes and foodie ideas with others. I enjoy sharing stories and experiences, maybe over a beer or two, but not always. I have quite a lot of worldly experience I love to share with others.
