About Me

Hello! I'm Josh, from Brizzle in the south west of England, UK.

I've sacked off life in rainy Bristol after having lived there for ~7 years, in favour of a year or two of adventure and travel in Australia, NZ, and maybe SE Asia.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To make new connections and friendships whilst I travel. I also love having the pleasure of having a glimpse into the way people live and experience locations from a local's perspective.

Music, Movies, and Books

I've been a lifelong musician and most of my time revolves around it in some form, whether that's playing mandolin in a folk band (Desperate Measures), solo fingerstyle guitar, acoustic folk-punk, or tearing up the stage on electric guitar in a hardcore band. My music taste covers all sorts, though lately I've been listening to a lot of UK rap/hip hop.

I also DJ! Partial to some tech-house and ragga dnb, though again I have all sorts up my sleeve. When I'm alone I listen to low-key singer songwriter or lofi to wind down off all the excitement.

Film + TV
Been a regular at my local art house cinema so seen some wild and entertaining stuff there. Also love my comedies.

Books
Enjoy anything although gravitate towards fantasy/sci fi. I am into nonviolent communication and gender politics stuff. Also interested in gender equality, sexual health/wellbeing and empowerment, and communication skills education.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Interrailing for 2 weeks with my bezzie before I went to uni. A formative experience that cemented my travel bug and the source of many hilarious stories.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am experienced in solution focused approaches/mentoring...we could do a values sort and look at what's feeling important to you at the moment. Some people find this a helpful exercise to get some perspective on life and find ways to add more value to their day. Otherwise, I'm a good listener and always happy to chat.

I can teach you some guitar/mandolin. I can also show you how to DJ.

To learn:
Always wanted to improve my practical skills - building, woodwork, maintenance, etc. So if you have a trade or a skill you could share I would be an eager student. I also would love to learn about your culture and history.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Easy going, good humoured laughs and company. Jokes, puns, and maybe a bit of piss taking. I am a dab hand in the kitchen, always happy to whip up something tasty. I'm housetrained too, no need to ask me to clean up after myself, got that covered..

If you're feeling quiet or unsocial there is no need to babysit me, I am just as happy being left to my own devices. We all need our space from time to time!
