About Me
Namaste, the name is Josh.
I'm a writer, actor, bookworm, illustrator, student of life, mindful at times; mindless at others, always a human being; sometimes a human doing - generally improvising, creating, and playing the fool as I go.
I'm also teaching English online:

I studied acting in university, and during a module on the art of clowning, my teacher assured me I was a natural clown. I chose to take this as a compliment, and I have carried it in my heart ever since.
I like to honour 'the fool' wherever I go. Not the fool who is unaware of his ignorance, but quite the opposite: the fool that is well-aware he always has something more to learn, that he will never run out of things to learn, and that, as a result, he is forever stepping into the great unknown.
Though stepping into the great unknown can be terrifying at times, it is also unavoidably, and the fool steps into the unknown consciously and willingly, safe in the knowledge that every step forward is simply a leap of faith :)
Or, to put it another (briefer) way: I'm not much of a planner, I like to go with the flow :)
I have my passions and I follow them where they take me.
I'm young at heart, something of a free spirit, open-minded, interested in sharing stories, and collecting those of others.
The writing itch still hasn't subsided, and I have been writing for at least a decade now. I have written plays for theatre in both the UK and Italy, and in the last couple of years I have written poetry. Now, as of travelling once again, I am writing of my travels as I make them.
2016 took me travelling through Europe and to cut a long story short, the journey has planted me in Venice :) my travels were an amazingly inspiring backdrop, and truly life-changing, I was bored of hearing and reading about countries - I wanted to see and touch them first hand. So, I did.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I first joined Couchsurfing in 2016 when I travelled through Europe. I was bored of hearing and reading about countries, I wanted to reach out and touch them first hand. The experience was incredible, invaluable, and I couldn't have imagined a better way to do it. I made precious friendships with many like-minded individuals along the way.
Most significantly, such a journey planted me in Venice, where I ended up for three years. Once there, I was fortunate enough to live with amazing souls, share incredible adventures, and to work as an actor and playwright for a living. Without couchsurfing, this might never have happened, and I will be forever grateful.
Travelling is nourishment, it keeps my soul well-fed. I love it for it constantly shakes things up, transports you to new angles of thinking, inevitably challenges your own perceptions - and I truly believe it helps expand your consciousness.
I am over the moon to be travelling again - and will be travelling through Nepal and India, and who knows where else. Most fascinating and inspiring to me during my travels is to deepen my own spiritual practice - especially in meditation - and to come to know the great religious stories and myths that have shaped the cultural landscape of the places I am visiting.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I wrote and published a poetry collection.
Something a short while ago I would never have imagined myself doing.
I'm not very good at selecting the one thing, so let me mention two other things.
I also went vegan around six years ago. And in the last year, I began to take meditation seriously, and meditate on a daily basis. These two things completely shifted my perspective of the world, and continue to do so still :)
