Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To alleviate all forms of suffering in the world as much as possible.
ABOUT ME
I am a junior mathematics major with a concentration in Women's and Gender Studies at St. Olaf College. I enjoy meeting new people, board games, cribbage, and discussing animal issues. After college, I plan to pursue a Ph.D. in applied mathematics and hope to work for the aerospace industry someday. I have been a vegan since February 2011 and love to cook! I make a pretty delicious black bean burger.
PHILOSOPHY
I think it is important for individuals to reduce their consumption and to think about how their consumption habits affect the world around them. I want my consumption to live as little of an effect on the Earth as I possibly can, and I have been working toward this goal for the past few years.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am currently looking to surf, but I want to host after college.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My roommate hosted a couchsurfer last summer, and we all got along very well! It was really fun meeting a new person and creating a connection.
Interests
Outdoors: I love to go hiking in the woods and observing nature through hikes or stargazing. I also really like to play croquet.
Mathematics: I really love learning and talking about mathematics with people. I also love to apply the critical thinking skills gained from mathematics to solve real-world problems.
Advocacy: I am an advocate for survivors of sexual assault, rape, and domestic violence. I have volunteered hundreds of hours of my life to help survivors.
Veganism: I love discussing issues related to veganism, cooking vegan food for people, and advocating for animals.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Varies between heavy rock and hip-hop/rap. I'm a big fan of Nine Inch Nails, Tool, A Perfect Circle, Das Racist, 2Pac, and Drake.
Movies: I've seen (500) Days of Summer at least a dozen times, so it is easily my favorite. Other favorites include Scarface, Primer, Memento, and The Departed.
Books: I mostly enjoy reading non-fiction, but I also like some science fiction. I usually read books about our food system and animal rights.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The Perseids meteor shower is the most amazing thing I have seen in my lifetime so far.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can make a pretty delicious black bean burger and have solid burrito folding skills.
