About Me
CANNOT HOST DURING SOLAR ECLIPSE - We have friends and family already visiting and our place is very small. Thanks you and hopefully we'll get to meet another time!
My girlfriend Courtney & I just moved to Victor, ID in January of this year (2017) to enjoy all that the Teton Valley has to offer! Tall mountains, plentiful trails, & vast views. We're also all about the sustainable & homesteading lifestyle so we're raising chickens (a whole range of egg colors!) which will start laying in August, gardening, and spend a lot of time foraging for mushrooms in the spring / summer. We both work from home a few days / week and also have part time jobs a few days / week so our availability for hosting is likely limited based on our schedule but shoot me a message and we'll see if we can work something out!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Its all about the community! I've been unable to host for a few years, but thats no longer the case! So I'm excited to meet new people again and share our little piece of mountain living with fellow adventurers & travelers.
Interests
We live a simple & adventurous lifestyle. Homesteading is the goal, currently raising chickens (for eggs), gardening, and foraging for mushrooms and other edibles grown in the surrounding mountains.
We both run trail ultra marathons, I coach a number of ultra athletes as well. So we're typically out the door early or as soon as we get home from our part time side jobs. We both have road bikes, and are always game for tagging a peak either casually or running!
Always good food and usually some beer / wine after a long day out adventuring!

Music, Movies, and Books
All about the randomized music playlist so feel free to share something new! Movies tend to be more adventure, suspense, or drama genres. As for books, adventures are my goto and a few running training/physiology books to stay up to date on my passion/career.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
During college (2009), I worked in a cardiac rehab facility as part of my degree. This little 82 yr old lady was a new patient and did not enjoy having to come to therapy 3 days a week. Working out seemed hard, she did not know anyone there, and she seemed to be getting depressed. I decided to put an extra effort into making her time there enjoyable and beneficial. After a few weeks, she finished her phase 2 rehab and had the option of not coming back again.
The next week, she was back! This time it was her own choice to be there. She looked forward to seeing all her new friends, the staff, and myself.
To this day (2017) she calls me on the phone just to say hi, sends me cards for each holiday and birthday, and looks back at her time in rehab as a positive and cherished experience! Last fall (Oct 2016) I stopped by her house to visit during a road trip to NY to visit family, she's still as sharp as ever! Although her body is slowly crumbling, which is tough to watch but she's positive none the less.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: Running biomechanics, local trails/mountains, skate skiing, mushroom foraging, gardening.
Learn: How to play my guitar better, foreign languages, and new recipes!
Share: Fresh organic eggs! (starting in August 2017), veggies from the garden, and mountain adventures!
What I Can Share with Hosts
We have a private climbing gym attached to our studio apartment. So if you're going to visit remember to bring your climbing shoes! The gym is where you'll be staying unless you have a tent, van, or car camping setup you would rather use in the driveway. You're welcome to share the kitchen, obviously the bathroom.
