Overview
About Me
Having just landed upon the Emerald Isle, I'm excited to begin a working holiday here, to meet the local people and hear the histories and legends of this famed land of saints and scholars.
I have a love of mythology, history and writing, and coming from Australia where we have little documented ancient history, the sights and stories of Europe's documented ancient past fill me with awe and inform my own writing.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Landing in Ireland and finding my feet is an adventure in itself. One that is made all the better for meeting locals and learning about how they do things around here. Considering I'm planning on being here for a while, I figured the best way to learn the culture would be to meet the locals and live it with them :)
When I write, I find the events I experience and the people I am with always influence and inform my writing, so it shall be interesting to see where it goes when I'm here.
Interests
My two great loves in life are writing and travel. I was lucky enough to have a story and a number of poems published last year, and one of my goals for this year is to self-publish a novel.
I love making music and jamming out and though I usually play ukulele or djembe, I can usually find my way around anything that makes a screech, toot, thump or otherwise.
I'm extremely curious about the old lore of Ireland, and to visit the castles and ancient sites all over this land.

I have a great fondness for the fantasy genre.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I hiked to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro!
I slept in a tent at the Hong Kong Umbrella protest.
Teach, Learn, Share
Stories and laughter, a light-hearted conversation or a serious discussion of history and philosophy, the only thing I love more than a good story is writing one.
One of my goals this year is to begin learning the fiddle, though I promise not to practice in your living room. :p
What I Can Share with Hosts
Sharing is Caring!
I love cooking meals for the whole family and sharing stories. I have plenty of stories to share from around the world and can cook a reasonable number of diverse dishes as I worked as a cook for a while in Australia. Vegetarian, vegan, allergies, just let me know your needs ^_^
My girlfriend, Molly, also studied Forestry and has experience in sustainable aquaculture, which she would love to share as well.
If you're interested in learning ukulele, I can certainly show you the ropes, or have a jam together.
I could also sing a few songs of Australia, we are a diverse peoples, but we are one at heart.
