Overview
About Me
I'm Josh, a warm and outgoing guy who's always up for a laugh. My friends have told me I've got a contagious, evergreen optimism.
Normally if my face isn't in a book, it's probably smiling at and chatting with someone. As you might see from my profile, I feel like I'm the greatest possible version of myself when I'm surrounded by others, although introverted down time is something I love to allow myself whilst swimming, reading, or meditating.
Couchsurfing is a wonderful thing, let's help maintain the founding ethos. With that in mind, if you're looking to stay with me please don't send a copy and pasted message, put some time, effort and thought into making it personal and eye-catching, that way I might consider changing my plans to host you if I feel like we'll get on well.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Sebastian Junger in his book 'Tribe' writes about how us humans, particularly in the 'West', have forgotten the concept of community. Couchsurfing is a humble tool that helps us spontaneously create that feeling of community wherever we are in the world. It's like automatic friendship, I love it!
Interests
- admiring dogs
- admiring cats (from a distance)
- walking faster than anyone else you've ever met
- mishearing peoples names for the third time
- eating all of the popcorn before the film starts
Music, Movies, and Books
Ain't nobody got time for TV or films! Ok, maybe some films: American Beauty, Requiem for a Dream, anything by Quentin Tarantino, Spirited Away.
Some good fictional reads: Most books by Jack Kerouac, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (Thompson), The Bell Jar (Plath), The Picture of Dorian Gray (Wilde), A Single Man (Isherwood), Astragal (Sarrazin),
Here're some non-fictional favourites: Tribe (Junger), Geopolitics of Emotion (Moïsi), Cosmos (Sagan), Hitch-22 (Hitchens), Sapiens and Homo Deus (Harari).
