ABOUT ME

Hey everybody my name is Josh. I'm 25, I'm a photographer/ musician living in Toronto now but I'm originally from Kingston. I am interested in seeing what the possibilities for traveling might be. I always thought money would be the thing that held me back from traveling, but if I could exchange a couch for a couch, that might be the answer!
My main purpose for traveling would to photograph more than just my backyard! I know there's more out there, I just have to find it.

Me and my brother are planning a big trip at the end of the summer if all goes well, and might be booking it all the way to Vancouver! If anyone knows any good tips on hitchhiking, or ideas for good routes, please let me know!

*UPDATE
The hitchhiking trip went swimmingly and we plan to do it again this summer! Too many stories to tell here so I'll just have to tell them from a couch sometime soon.

*ALASKA
My brother and I are getting ready for a month long hitchhiking trip from Toronto, to Alaska, Dawson, then Yellowknife. We are super excited! I have proposed a project to a gallery in Toronto to photograph the people I meet along the way and it was accepted! The show will be in January 2012, but first I have to actually make the trip. Wish us luck!

*UPDATE
Our trip to Alaska was cut short around Prince George when I came down with Bronchitis. So we made the best of it and headed down to Vancouver again. Two very different trips, both were amazing in their own ways.

*Iceland
I just booked my ticket to Iceland!! I'm going from May 27th to June 12th 2013. I'm excited to backpack around the island, take photos, learn some of the beautiful language and of course get myself one of those sweaters.

PHILOSOPHY

I feel constantly dwarfed by the vastness of the universe but at the same time INCREDIBLY LUCKY to even be able to breath, think, swim, run, jump, anything at all! I am not very religious in a traditional sense, but for me respect is probably that for me, just respect that we are as freaking lucky as we are to even know we're around.

I would love to show anyone around Toronto if they came here for a night or two. I can't guarantee a couch because I live in a live work studio which is often in use, but if one is available then I'd be glad to host!
