About Me

I am an Economics and Business major with the ultimate goal of working in finance.

I am learning Russian, which I believe to be a beautiful and interesting language, so I may study abroad in St. Petersburg.

Lacrosse and football are two of my favorite sports to play and watch. I lettered in both during high school but I only received recognition and awards for my performances in school plays; I acted for three years and achieved third place in a state championship for theatre and did not win a thing after ten years of football and lacrosse!

I enjoy learning new skills and expanding my comfort zone to include interesting and fulfilling hobbies. My heart will always have a soft spot for the outdoors. I love hiking, canoeing, and skiing(even though I'm not very good at it!) and other outdoor activities. I love going outside so much I became an officer in my school's outdoors club managing the club's funding; I really got to knock out two birds with one stone there!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on Couchsurfing because I believe Coushsurfing provides a means to connect with real local people from around the world. I think so much is lost by staying in a hotel or resort where everything is catered and convienient. Couchsurfing provides me with an opportunity to connect with people and learn a new culture, way of life, and perhaps pick up a few words in a new language! I truly enjoy the company of new and interesting people and Couchsurfing is the best way to expand my horizon.

Interests

I love everything outdoors. I am an Eagle Scout and to become one I had to spend many nights without electricity or phone service! I help organize excurssions and sometimes lead groups into the woods for a hike or a camping trip. Many or my plans come last minute so I have become quite adapt at organizing these outings quickly.

I also love sports. I played American football and lacrosse for almost eleven years. My best friend has gotten me into more than one SEC game!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I found myself blessed with unemployment during the summer of 2016. With no job openings and an inadequate amount of schooling for internships I decided I would travel the continental US. I made the decision in five minutes.

I spent a month and a half doing odd jobs and saving money until, finally, I was ready to depart from Washington DC. I drove northwest towards Mount Rushmore and continued until I was in Seattle. From Seattle I drove into downtown LA(where I was hit by a van!) and continued south into Mexico! After Mexico I saw the Grand Canyon in all its beauty at sunset; the gradations of blue and purple and orange and yellow caused by the sunset were literally too splendid for my phone's camera to capture. Even the horizon was on fire as a wildfire swept through the area!

I stayed with many friends and family whom I hadn't seen in years or perhaps ever. My great aunt in Mexico(who encouraged my adventure), my sister in LA, and my cousins in Washington and Mississippi were but a few of my hosts.

This journey infected me with wanderlust and now I feel the urge to travel and see everything I can. However, I will never forget my initial undertaking; I will retrace my steps to strengthen my relationships with my friends and family.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love conversing with people. People are interesting and always have something to offer, so I always try and spend time with people. I can offer great conversations and a willingness to listen.

I live with a Russian host family right now and I have hour-long conversations with them everyday. To me it is extremely interesting to listen to a person who grew up in the Soviet Union and travelled all over the world. So many of my fellow Americans hate or misunderstand Russia because they know nothing of the people; they have never sat down with a Russian and talked with them.

However, if conversation doesn't interest you I have many hard skills and if you want I can build you a patio!
