About Me

Hi :) my name is Joshua and I’m 22 years old. I was born in Germany, where I lived for 10 years. Now I live in Poland, first for 8 years in Suwałki in the north-east of Poland, and now I’m living in Warsaw for 4 years, where I study Lutheran theology. I will spend my next and the last year of my study in Leipzig, Germany.

Last holiday I’ve started hitchhiking. I did it only on small distances, so I never had to stop anywhere. Now I want to to something more adventurous - I want to do a longer trip through hitchhiking. In July I want to make a very short trip to Lithuania (alone) and in September I want to make a longer trip to Slovakia and Hungary with a friend of mine.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

This holiday I want to make two hitchhiking trips (one to Lithuania and the second one to Slovakia and Hungary). I think that meeting people from a different country is much more exciting than seeing old buildings, so I would like to hang out a bit with people from the countries I want to visit.

Someday, when I’ll have my own apartment, I would like to give travellers the possibility to sleep at my place and show them my city.

Interests

I would say my main interest are philosophy/theology, music (mostly techno), Netflix or football (I love German football and Werder Bremen is my favourite team). I also love playing backgammon

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I’m very open to different genres of music, but I prefer electronic one, mostly some melodic or hypnotising techno, for example Miniliogue (Sebastian Mullaert & Marcus Henriksson), Simian Mobile Disco or Fatima Yamaha.
I also very like the polish band The Dumplings and the (I think) Lithuanian band Garbanotas, even if I don’t unterstand one single word of their songs.

Films: I don’t watch movies often, I prefer watching different series on Netflix or HBO (for example You, Dark or Good Place)

Books: I like to read some philosophical or ethical books from time to time. My favourite books are 1984 from Orwell and New Brave World from Huxley.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think the most exciting thing I’ve ever done was hitchhiking from Germany to Poland. I did the whole distance in one day, so that was really cool.

Teach, Learn, Share

Things I could teach or show you:
1. Of course I could tell you something about the Polish or German Language
2. I could make a short, maybe not very professional film with you :) I very like cutting videos :)
3. I really like to cook, so I could cook with you some polish or regional dishes. I prefer vegan food, but I could eat everything :)

I’m very open to learn something about your region or anything you would like to show me :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I’m sure you’ll have an interest talk with me. I can tell you a lot about Poland or Germany if you want, music or other stuff. We could also cook or have a beer together.
