Overview
About Me
I am a research technician, currently stationed on Little Saint Simons Island, monitoring sea turtle nesting habitat. I seek intellectual stimulation in my work and recreation, and I am passionate about the things I study and do.
I am a tree-hugger, passionate about the environment and its conservation. There is something sacred about being completely alone in the woods.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
There isn't a more immersive experience than staying with locals. I prefer to travel light and live simply. As a technician on a boat-access only island, my ability to travel is very limited. Given that many of my ventures from the island are very limited in time, I would prefer to make friends and not break the bank.
Music, Movies, and Books
While swing jazz is my go-to genre, I enjoy a wide variety of music. I'm gently interested in science fiction literature (think Jules Verne), but I read a good bit more non-fiction (currently hooked on Bill Bryson, Elizabeth Kolbert).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
SCUBA diving the Great Barrier Reef to support current ecological research, backpacking Ecuador, solo backpacking Indonesia
Teach, Learn, Share
I can talk your ear off about the natural world and environment, but I have the good sense to not be overbearing. I'd love to learn more about this community -- the charms and quirks of the region. I am new to Georgia, tell me something I should know.
