About Me
NOTE: No guests after June 2nd. I'm leaving Massachusetts indefinitely then to travel Latin America for a year!
Leftwing loser. I teach ethics to rich kids.
Enséñame español, por favor!

Longer bio:
I did my Philosophy PhD at Northwestern University. Currently I teach ethics and philosophy at a boarding school in Andover Mass. Will be heading to Brasil and then to some Spanish speaking countries this summer, maybe all year if I'm lucky. I'm vegan and I like to ride bikes, hike, hangout with interesting people, talk philosophy or politics sometimes, play board games, go clubbing, psychedelics etc.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I dig meeting cool people and sharing spaces. I've lived in cooperative houses in Evanston/Chicago (Mosaic's Treehouse!) and Madison, Wisconsin (Friends Coop!) where we often have really cool folks come through and I loved meeting them. I've also experienced couchsurfing using a site called "Warmshowers" when I did a bike trip around Lake Michigan in the summer of 2012 and really enjoyed it.
Some specifics: i travel a lot over the summers as a teacher or grad student. Spent a summer in Brazil, one traveling europre, lived in London for 5 months, and popped around latin America as well as Spain and Portugal for some breaks.
Favorite or most memorable visits: Cuba, Azores (Portugal), and Brazil.
Interests
philosophy, radical politics (anarchist and socialist left), veganism, social justice, history, feminism.
I also like to ride bikes (in particular fixed gears), snowboard, hike a little. I've recently started trying to do more weight training too. If you wanna hit up a gym or something I could be down for that!
I don't really 'do' circus or acro-yoga, or yoga but i've dabbled with some good friends and I definitely enjoy trying. After a few more sessions I might consider it an interest haha.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books: I read a lot of books for school, mostly philosophy these are on topics in ethics and political philosophy like feminism, distributive justice, or animal rights. For pleasure I like reading about radical politics, sci-fi and some fantasy. Murakami has been my addiction lately. I want to go to Japan every time I read him.
Music: most everything. reggaeton, folk punk, hardcore, pop, punk, hip hop, grime, Brazilian funk. I'm pretty friendly to most music. I like pop because that shit is engineered to be enjoyable for humans!
Films: I like everything except horror. Very easy to please on this front. Comedy is good. Bridesmaids is the best film of all time.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I lived in a van with my now close friend (didn't know her before) doing animal rights outreach on the West Coast of the USA in the summer of 2014. It was rad.
I also road my bike around Lake Michigan the summer before that. It was only like 1100 miles but I definitely want to do more touring on it now.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd love to talk about philosophy and could try some teaching haha.
I'm also really into effective altruism so i'd love to chat about how we can do a more effective job of making this world a nice place to be. (check out https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Effective_altruism )
