One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I accidentally caused a bomb scare in a French airport......

Bit of a backstory, I am a Type 1 Diabetic and so I need to carry a bag with me wherever I go with all my medication in it. Okay so here's the whole story. My family (mom, dad, brother and cousin) and I were on holiday in France in the Holiday home of our friends. The nearest airport to us was about two hours away and halfway through our holiday my cousin was flying out from said airport to meet her family on their own holiday. All of us go to see her off, wave goodbye and get back in the car to drive back to the house. About halfway there we see a shop and decide to stop to buy groceries for the week. I feel like now is a pretty good time to take my blood sugars so I start looking for my bag and, much to my shock and worry, it wasn't in the car. My dad and I conclude that I must have forgotten it at the airport and so hatch a plan that my mom and brother would stay at the shop and do the groceries while we drove back to the airport (bearing in mind that we were already about an hour away and now had another hour long trip back). So we arrive back at the airport and immediately notice the amount of police cars and see that the entire airport is taped off. Knowing what had happened we park as close to the front door as we can and attempt to go inside. On the way in I'm stopped by a female police officer who says "Sorry sir, no one is allowed in or out of the airport as there is a suspect bag." to which I reply, rather sheepishly, "Yeah I think that may be my bag." I explain the whole situation and she makes me walk over to the bag, which itself is cordoned off and makes me open it slowly and show the contents to all the heavily armed security guards around me. I was then allowed to return to my dad, the police woman took down all our details and informed us that we were lucky to have arrived when we did as the bomb squad were on their way in less than ten minutes and would have destroyed it no questions asked. She told the rest of the guards what the situation was and I'm pretty sure I saw some of them rolling their eyes and getting into their squad cars and fish-tailing it out of there as fast as they could. So that's how I caused a bomb scare and now have my details in the French national security system. Pretty stupid on my part but a good story.
