About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Leave such a long paper trail behind me that it'll take time and effort to sweep it and bury me in my grave.
ABOUT ME
I'm originally from rural Minnesota and am currently living in Houston, TX. Here I'm a research fellow at Baylor College of Medicine's Initiative on Neuroscience and Law. Basically I study the ways in which modern science can inform and improve the legal system. I'm also a creative writer whose work has appeared in some small press publications. If you're interested in learning more, check out my website www.JPPreston.com.
If you're interested in staying with me, please note that my roommate and I are on a tight budget (as I said: writer), which means that when we go out, we prefer to see the city on the cheap. Because we're happy to have you come make yourself at home, it'd be nice if you could help us out -- be it a meal or beer. That's all we expect in return.
PHILOSOPHY
"Peculiar travel suggestions are dancing lessons from God" - Bokonon (Kurt Vonnegut's "Cat's Cradle").
Interests
My degree is in Political Theory and U.S. History so I love discussing politics, philosophy, and history. Also, being a writer who's attended the Jack Kerouac School (Boulder, CO), I love discussing art and literature. Truthfully, I'm versatile and love talking about anything and everything. Additionally, as someone who's done a lot of oral histories, I have a habit of slipping into "interview" mode so feel free to hit me over the head with a newspaper if that happens.
