About Me

"Passionate Marketer and Lover of Local, Visionary Entrepreneur and Philanthropist..."

Hey there!! My name is Joshua and I'm from the good ole southern state of Kentucky! **I am traveling and living with my best friend, Wesley Epperson who also has a couchsurfing profile** I have a passion for people and music and travel, but haven't had the chance to travel much over the past few years due to getting sucked into the wonderful world of Retail Management. I have recently left that career in an attempt to write a new book and work on doing what I love most: Learning about people and what makes them, them!

I have a background in Non-Profit Business Management, Trumpet and Musical Theatre performance, and have a soft spot in my heart for local businesses! I'm an open book and have been through a lot in my life, have learned a lot about many different things, and love to learn about people and their lives as well!

I've just moved to Los Angeles and am very excited about all the opportunities that await me here!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm couchsurfing because my original living arrangements (that were set up before the 2,500 mile journey from Kentucky) fell through only hours before we arrived and we're now in a scurry to find a new place. While that is a major reason why, the REAL reason I want to couchsurf is for the book I'm working on. The more people I meet and get to learn about, the better the book will be! Again, one of my passions is people, so couchsurfing is an incredible way to do that! (About a year ago, when I lived with someone else, we hosted CouchSurfers all the time and I LOVED it!)

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Any type of music I would consider great (except specific types of "rap," that I find absurd lol), because there's something beautiful to be found in any and all music. However... my favorites are probably musical theatre and country. While quite the dichotomy there I enjoy that they both tell a story most of the time.

Movies: Harry Potter, Devil Wears Prada, Legally Blonde, Legends of the Guardians: The Owl's of Gahoole, and pretty much any movie that is Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Action, or Horror. I love movies!!

Books: Harry Potter (I mean, let's be serious... I have a Harry Potter tattoo... #obsessed haha!), The Hunger Games, Life of Pi (BRILLIANT BOOK!), Wicked, The Giver, and plenty more...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Option 1: Sold all my stuff except for my car and some clothes, left my retail career, said goodbye to family and packed up what was left, grabbed my best friend, and drove across the country to Los Angeles so that I can explore myself and other people in a completely vulnerable state... I find it amazing for myself.

Option 2: Traveled to Greece while in college to play trumpet with a group over there and learn about their culture and continue my music education for quite some time. It was absolutely stunning!

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to learn about anything and I love to teach what I've learned!

"The moment you decide to start living your life with the idea that everyone you meet has something to teach you, your life immediately becomes more beautiful!"

What I Can Share with Hosts

Laughter and a new perspective on life and love. I'm told by many that I have the ability to reach into someone's being and truly understand who they are. It all starts with Empathy and branches from there. If that is of no interest, I can also sing, clean and make you laugh a lot. :)
