About Me

*Please read my profile and my home before sending a request... the request will have a heavy influence on my decision*

So where to begin? I guess I'll start where I am from. I was born in Queens, New York and then moved to North Carolina (there were a couple of other moves in between) . I studied and lived in Greenville, North Carolina , where I received my undergraduate degree in biology and a masters in chemistry both at East Carolina University. I am currently living and working in Prague and trying to travel as much as possible while I am here.

I love living in Europe and have already spent a year over a of my life living here. I started off teaching English in Prague last September, but I am now working as a Scientist again ( I do stuff with proteins if you are
curious). Before I lived in Prague, I did a semester in Wroclaw, which really kicked off my traveling experience. I have also spent extended time in Bosnia and Romania. In Romania, I volunteered at a summer camp and taught English.

Traveling is one of my favorite activities to take part in, be it alone or in a group . Some of my favorite cities I have been to are Wroclaw, Berlin, Dublin, Brno, Zurich, Cluj, Brussels, Prague, and Budapest, just to name a few.

While foreign languages aren't my forte, I love learning about the language wherever I go. I have learned some Bosnian from my time living there. While living there I also learned how to read Cyrillic. Currently I am learning Czech and I really want to start studying German again. I want to become fluent in German and at least one Slavic language.

Traveling and learning about culture, music, history and trying new foods are some of my favorite things in life. Nothing exhilarates me more than going to new places and meeting new people. Aside from traveling, I love music, arts and to exercise. I have a soft spot for going outside and partaking in activities, such as, hiking, snowboarding, walking, biking, and skateboarding. Lastly, I really enjoy socializing, if that wasn't already evident. Nothing beats grabbing a coffee with a friend or two and just having a good discussion.

I would say most people see me as a friendly, go with the flow, hardworking kind of person. I live to learn and I love to live.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to everything. Love me some punk, jam bands, funk, jazz, alternative, ska, 90's rock and everything in between. I also enjoy some good hip-hop, rap, classical, techno, DnB...... I think you get the point.

Not a huge movie person, can't sit still for a while. Do have some favorites, such as, Fight Club, anything Tarantino, Spirited Away, Big Lebowski , anything along those lines.

In the recent years I have made a conscious effort to read more. Goal for 2019, read two books a month. Some of my favorites: Ham on Rye, Brave New World, Animal Farm, I Served the King of England, and Of mice and Men. Also, Siddhartha has been probably one of my favorite reads this year.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived outside my home county and am doing it a second time :) I also lived in a little village in Romania and volunteered at a summer camp.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to teach, especially things about science. If its from my unusual knowledge of botany or to my random facts about the natural world around us.

In addition to teaching, I love learning. Nothing beats discovering new cultures. I love to dive into the food, music, history, geography, or anything that makes that culture unique.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My love for science, music, and food. Most of all, I can share my life stories and experiences with them. Hoping that I may give them insight on a culture or lifestyle they have not experienced before.
