About Me

I'm a seeker, wanderer, dreamer, and storyteller, constantly exploring the inward and outward journeys of life. I draw inspiration from sharing stories and dialogue with others, whether with intimately familiar friends and family, or completely new acquaintances. I passionately travel far and wide, seeking out connection with new cultures and natural environments, while at the same time enjoy a life of solitude, working from home, exploring the forests and mountains that surround me, and maintaining a homestead-like existence where I love hosting guests.

I'm both a teacher and student, fluidly moving back and forth between the two. I grew up in the ski industry and have taught, trained instructors, and managed on a ski school for nearly 20 years, the past 7 at Taos Ski Valley in northern New Mexico. As an emerging professional photographer and writer, I dig deeply into the subjects of place and quest, searching for connections between local natural environments, culture, community, and adventure, as well as the unfolding development of human potential. I've recently returned to school to work on an MFA in support of these latter endeavors.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As a traveler, I'm often in need of temporary accommodations if camping is unavailable or impractical, or if typical local accommodations are beyond my price range. I enjoy getting to know the areas I visit from a local's perspective and prefer the welcome warmth of someone else's home rather than a sterile hotel room. I look for places that are clean, comfortable, quiet - yet socially engaging, laid back, and offer a sense of home away from home.

At the same time, I love the opportunity to reciprocate and welcome visitors into my home when I'm able to host. My adopted home community in Taos tends to garner a passionate following and I love being able to share this place with those who feel drawn here.
