About Me

** Traveling until mid May**

PLEASE READ: I work most weekends and am extremely busy during the week so it's tough for me to host people. On top of that Mammoth Lakes is a busy resort town with lots of visitors. During the ski season we get around 10 request per week to stay at our place, more when there's fresh snow. Because of our busy work schedules and the number of requests we receive please don't expect us to be able to host. When we are able to host priority is giving to:

- International travelers
- CouchSurfers who are active in the community
- CouchSurfers who have been verified and who have references
- People interested in genuine interaction and cultural exchange

CURRENT MISSION

To smile and dance, to take a chance and make romance. To go to France and wear great pants. To tend my plants, watch out for ants, and enhance my balance. Thus is my stance.

ABOUT ME

Call me Josh.

I'm an artist but I am not artsy. I'm a nerd without being nerdy. I have lived just long enough to start losing hair where I want it and growing it where I don't.

Luckily for me I realized a long time ago the only true currency in life is time, and the only thing worth buying with it is experience. Since then I've traveled much and seen some cool shit.

Now I'm busy trying to make the most of my life here in Mammoth, where I photograph, climb, run, jump, and play.

PHILOSOPHY

I just want to live a good, simple life. That means having as much time as possible to do the things I want to do, and go the places I want to go.

Most important are the six F's: family, friends, food, fun, far-away places, and fotography :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am happy to host and surf. I can only host once or twice a month though. When I lived in LA I hosted constantly and I got burned out on hosting. Hosting only once every few weeks helps keep CS fresh and fun for me.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Been hosting and surfing for over 5 years on CS, meeting people from all around the world. I was also a member of Hospitality Club for over 7 years and have had many many excellent experiences with hosts and guests.

Interests

My biggest joy in life is landscape photography, and I am lucky enough to be able to make money doing it. When I'm not out shooting, I also really enjoy playing volleyball, rock climbing, hiking, camping, backpacking, and snowboarding. Don't let all these activities fool you though, I'm a pretty laid back guy and I love to spend the day lounging around reading, watching movies, or surfing the web. I have a musical side as well and played drums and sang for years before photography became my primary artistic outlet.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a huge weakness for anything sci-fi, but like most other genres of movies and books as well.

Music is a tough nut to crack; it's so broad and subtle it's tricky to make meaningful distinctions, but if you forced me to make a list I'd say some of my favorites are: Queen, Boston, Bach, Arvo Part, Copland, Barbershop music, the Beach Boys, The Beatles, Elton John, Billy Joel, Dave Brubeck, Chick Corea, Buddy Rich, ELO, Flight of the Conchords, and Oscar Peterson, among others.

I really love to read for pleasure. I love a good book. I also love a bad book. Or a cheesy book. Just give me something with words on it and I'll read it. I can't fall asleep at night without having read something, whether it's a novel or my grocery list.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Just one? Hmmm... how about, elephants! Seeing elephants in the wild is pretty damn amazing.

I can also teach you about backpacking, hiking, camping, snowboarding, and international traveling.
