About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I am a work in progress
ABOUT ME
Mostly I just like to whittle away the hours with good company, good conversation and preferably a good bottle of wine. (Okay, any bottle of wine will do.) Whether that happens at a bar or a home I don't really mind. I'm also happy to dance, sit in a corner and read or just listen to what other people have to say.
I'm a quiet person and I warm up slowly. I think and write a lot. I'm more of an observer than a doer and I especially like to watch birds, cats and movies. Art is my passion and my first love. Dancing is my second.
PHILOSOPHY
I prefer to let life do its thing and just enjoy the ride. I'm not sure I believe in an actual karmic force but it seems like a pretty good approach to life anyway. And when things get tough... just dance!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've surfed several times and been to a few CS parties.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Everyone I've met on CS has been very open and kind and apart from one little hiccup, everything has gone smoothly. It often takes me more than a couple days to open up to someone so I can't say couchsurfing is really ideal for me but it's nice to meet different people and I'm looking to returning the karmic favour one day by hosting surfers myself.
Interests
Films, books, music and other artsy stuff. Politics, philosophy, culture and other interesting stuff. Bars, dancing, running around and all that fun stuff. Also learning new things, exploring new places and meeting new people. And cooking (vegetarian food).

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: mostly rhythm & blues (from blues through Motown, soul and funk to some contemporary stuff), also little bits of reggae, electronica, dance, rock, pop and jazz. If you like Sam Cooke, the Chi-Lites and/or Sly & the Family Stone I will probably fall in love with you.
Books: anything by Salman Rushdie, also The Wind Up Bird Chronicle, The White Hotel, Slaughterhouse 5, War & Peace, Eva Luna, most things by Kafka, 1984, The Bell Jar, Harry Potter series, The Time Machine, A Clockwork Orange...
Movies: Les Amours Imaginaires (Heartbeats), Pierrot le Fou, Festen, Let The Right One In, Sita Sings the Blues, Amélie, Gilda, Crybaby, American Beauty, Double Indemnity, Mean Girls, Poison, Howl's Moving Castle, Primer, Get Ready to be Boyzvoiced, Far From Heaven, Darby O'Gill & the Little People
TV: Oz, The West Wing, The Office, Parks and Recreation, Carnivale, Buffy, Weeds, Freaks and Geeks, The Tick, Deadwood, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Friday Night Lights...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I don't like this question. You can find amazing things to see and do every day so picking out the most impressive ones just obfuscates the ordinary everyday wonder of life. I think the colours of trees and rocks, the sounds of city or country life, or the thoughts that cross my mind every day can be just as exciting as the views from mountaintops, the adventure treks and the greatest achievements of my life. Even more so because these moments are EVERYWHERE.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can make lots of vegetarian food from various Asian cuisines, like sushi and curry. I guess I can teach about the horribleness that is Australian politics.
