About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live life to the full. To get to know people and challenge myself to grow.

ABOUT ME

I'm a guy who is open, honest and loving. I like to meet new people and am open to new experiences. I studied with Cornerstone Community during 2013 and 2014. See http://youtu.be/PuKwAWF8BhM for more info.

and About.me http://about.me/joshuaparris

I love questions and deep conversations. Ask me anything!

PHILOSOPHY

I think we as humans all are missing something and try to fill that hole in our lives with work, study, religion, whatever. I believe personal relationships, growth and practically following the teachings of Jesus are keys to living life to the full.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I like to participate wherever I am needed.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had a few people visit and have dinner with my house through the couch surfing website. I look forward to meeting more people and getting to know the people I have already met. We had a lovey German backpacker stay for a few nights through couch surfer too.

Interests

Books are something I really love. All sorts of books from fiction to fantasy to most things really. Some of my favorite authors are C.S.Lewis, Stephen Lawhead, Ted Dekker, George MacDonald and J.R.R Tolkien.

I love exploring all the awesome inventions around us and finding out how this world ticks. I really like travelling as well and spending time with friends from all over the place.

Bushwalking is something awesome that I love to do, and camping, and all manner of sports and things. Whatever is going down really.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love Jazz, classical music and most things around. I'm not really into Pop music, but I can stand it. I got up to about 7th grade in classical piano.

I love movies and films that makes one think. Movies like "The Prestige", "The Illusionist", "Inception" and "The Matrix" are my types of movies.

Science Fiction is my favorite genre of book, although I read many different genres.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I remember one time in the Philippines I was with a group of missionaries and sailed across a lake to a volcano and we were rode horses up it and there were people wanting to sell us stuff like scarves and things but we didn't really need all that stuff. At the top we had coconut while admiring the view and took photos of us doing "Toyota" jumps.

Another time I was with my brother in a German replica town called "Hahndorf" near Strathalbyn in South Australia and we went and saw an art gallery by a guy named "Hans Heysen" and there was a really beautiful flower garden. In the town we also saw a pink limo drive past and ate some Strudel.

Lastly on Christmas Day I was on Mount Wellington in Hobart and it started snowing! It was my first white Christmas ever and I was with my family and an exchange student from Holland named Elske. The wind on the mountain was incredible, so strong that one could lean against it and it would support my weight. Also in Hobart we visited the famous Salamanca Markets and the Cadbury Factory where our family bought over $100 worth of chocolate!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach all sorts of things such as canoing, bush walking, ect but also theology, and many other things such as living in community, piano, squash and whatever people want to learn that I know really.
