Why I’m on Couchsurfing
It's one thing to discover a place, walk through the streets, visit the tourist sights as well as all the hidden secret beautiful spots - but it's another thing to meet people who live there, get to know their culture, their mentality and most important: hear their story. In my opinion that's the only way to turn trip into a really enriching experience from which you return with new ideas and a more profound understanding of the world. And that's what I seek in traveling - I don't only want to see without understanding what's behind the apparent, I want to learn, expand my horizon, learn about the history and some words in the local language (or practice speaking it, if it's one of those I already know), and understand the culture and mentality. And it's also great to just make new friends and have fun! :)
