About Me

CURRENT MISSION

getting a flipping move on planning my year off work, and cycle trip round scandinavia and the baltics!

ABOUT ME

I'm pretty independent, active, good at talking to all sorts of new people. I am genuine, and like to connect with people. I like doing different, interesting things, and don't like following the croud! I like to be spontaneous and let my instincts lead me...I'm hoping this trip will enable me to do more of this!

PHILOSOPHY

Find out who you are by doing what you enjoy and make the most of the things you are gifted at rather than beating yourself up about what you can't do.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, I haven't participated yet but this is the start of it, and I am excited! I am currently looking for hosts in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland,Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania for my trip around these countries by bike!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None yet - watch this space!

Interests

I love old things! And I love bringing them back to life! I have just finished renovating an old 1970's British Eagle pushbike - getting it re-sprayed, getting my hands dirty cleaning all the parts, fixing new ones and gradually putting it together! I love doing practical things, and will get really absorbed in them. I am definitely a perfectionist however and can therefore take ages over things!! I enjoy music, and singing harmonies - to the extent that I rarely actually sing the tune when singing along to stuff! I cycle as much as I can, mainly to get around in Bristol, but hoping to do some longer rides to get further afield.

Music, Movies, and Books

Oh, a whole random range of things!

At the moment music I'm listening to includes Dikta, Ed Sheeran....but all time favourites include Queen, Muse, Elton John, Foo Fighters, Feeder, Keane, Ozomatli, Pink, Alanis Morrisette....a whole random mix really!! Heavy metal, garage and trance music being the exception to that - not really a fan!!

Books - should read more, have probably read more Enid Blyton books in my childhood than anything else!! But favourite books from limited adulthood reading are Time Travellers Wife, The L-Shaped Room, David Lodge books...open to recommendations please!!

Films, as I call them! - I tend to like more indie-arthouse kinda stuff, Submarine being a recent favourite. Stand By Me and Shawshank Redemption for classics. Not sci-fi or old 70's action films thanks very much!

TV is not on this list but I am loving watching Gavin & Stacey at the moment!!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Bathing in the ice cold water of a mountain lake in the French Alps after waking from a night of wild camping.

The luscious green mountain fields of Costa Rica, disappearing and reappearing through the clouds that surrounded us.

Simply being loved and accepted by friends.

Teach, Learn, Share

Blimey, I dunno, I guess I have a bit of knowledge on buildings and construction, basic bike maintenance, fairly practical generally........could probably teach English seeing as it is my own language!

Would love to learn african drumming, some of the languages of the countries I am going to visit, and just how others live their lives!

Countries I’ve Visited

Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Hungary, Iceland, Nicaragua, Romania, Spain, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Costa Rica, United Kingdom
