About Me
*Update: We moved out from Santiago so I won't be able to host. Next week we travel to USA, so maybe we can meet there!
Easy going guy, reliable, funny (hopefuly), kind of crazy at times, and down to the earth at others. I don't trouble myself too much for anything, and i like to have a nice time at life.
Although I'm not the most talented guy, I like to do sports, riding my bike, playing pretty much any racquet sport, voleyball, and the occasional gym session ;)
I also play the guitar and try to sing along,
I work in Industrial Automation and usually am at home working, investigating, developing solutions but every couple of days I go out to visit some clients. This gives me a lot of flexibility to do whatever else I like to do and my friends often tell me I have a dream job ;)
Almost everybody calls me "J" (the spanish version "jota") . If you don't have a sound like the spanish 'J', you can call me "Jay" ;)) (which I prefer from Juan).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I joined some years ago when I spent a semester abroad in France. I love meeting new friends, specially from other cultures and I love the idea behind CS where you can exchange experiences with others and welcome others into your place
Interests
I play tennis about 3-4 times a week when I'm not working and move around the city in my bike. I like hanging out with my friends with a couple of beers around.
I've also always loved going camping outdoors, it brings back a lot of childhood memories when I used to go out with my parents. That chilly weather in the morning with water drops going down your tent while preparing some hot chocolate with a little portable camping stove.. priceless!!
For the last 5 years or so I have also visited a lot of countries around Europe mainly, but also I've given myself time to get to know our beautiful and long country (Chili) which hosts many beautiful and different landscapes. I would definitely recommend going to the Paine Towers on the south and visiting the glaciers and do some trekking.
I'm ready to visit more countries now and plan to visit USA and Australia very soon...

Music, Movies, and Books
I listen to all kind of Music, from pop to metal, but I have to say that I've been mostly listening to Jason Mraz lately whom I think is an awesome artist, you need to listen to him specially live.
A book I would recommend: The brain that changes itself
What I Can Share with Hosts
First of all, a couple of beers.. nothing better to get some conversation started
If staying with me I can show around what I know about the city and take you to some bars also to get some "Terremotos", "Piscolas" or some crafted beer.
Also we can cook some typical Chilean food, such as Empanadas (chilenas), Pastel de choclo, Manjar or whatever else I can think of. (or we can always order something else hahaha)
