ABOUT ME

I'm a bookbinding long-haired vegetarian who loves nature and traveling. I love making food, watch movies and listen to music. Meeting new people is one of the blessings of life. I fell in love with the old craft of binding books while studying photography in Edinburgh, Scotland. At the moment I'm deeply engaged in the craft of papermaking and bookbinding while doing my MFA in Book Arts at the University of Iowa.

PHILOSOPHY

It's better to fail than to not have the courage to try. This does not always work, but it sounds nice.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have both been hosted and surfed some couches around the world. All experiences have been splendid.

Binding books, Photography, Film, Old industrial buildings, Reading, Coffee, Hiking in the forest, Whiskey, Juggling, Eating and making good vegetarian food, Roadtrips, drinking beer by the bonfire and of course Traveling.

Música, películas y libros

Most of the movies made by Emir Kusturica, Aki Kaurismäki, Jaques Tati, Michel Gondry, Jim Jarmusch, Michael Haneke, Peter Greenaway. Just to mention some movies; Metropolis, Night on Earth, Cinema Paradiso, Sunset Boulevard, Magnolia, Stalker. That was just some movies on the top of my head, but I especially enjoy watching a classic B&W movie in an old movie theater
Books by; Haruki Murakami, John Steinbeck, Herman Hesse, Raymond Carver. Bill Bryson's travel writing is my preferred reading within traveling literature, he's bloody hilarious. I have spent the last years to bind books instead of reading them, so I'm not very up to date with reading
Taste of music is to hard to define since I enjoy a variety of different genres, but I'll mention The Mars Volta, Leonard Cohen, Omar Rodriguez Lopez, Sun Ra, Finnish Tango, Beirut, Frank Zappa, A hawk and a Hacksaw, Tom Waits, Vladimir Semjonovitsj Vysotskij, Nick Cave and Goran Bregovic.

Algo increíble que he hecho

An utterly amazing faux pas I have done is to go to Mexico without a passport, then try to get back to the US again, which was not easy.

I did the whole Trans-Siberian railway while drinking for days with Russian soldiers.

I walked for a month in the wonderful mountains of Nepal.

Enseña, aprende, comparte

I'll teach you juggling skills. In general I very much enjoy talking about different traveling experiences, books, music, philosophy and I need to admit that I love to discuss everything, just to warn you if you plan to surf my couch;)

Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones

I love to cook, and I'll be more than happy to make some great food for you. I love long deep conversations about everything from animals to the hidden wonders of trees.
