Hello, my name is Joy Garcia and I just quit my dream job to travel around the world with my husband (Justin Garcia) for a year!
Through my mother in law we get practically free flights (she works for United) and we figured if not now, then when?
We love meeting meeting new people, exploring, trying new foods and learning about other cultures!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We are going to try to stretch our limited savings for an entire year and this is where the couch surfing community can really save us!
After our trip we will definitely be opening our home to travelers as well to give back.

We are hoping to learn about different cultures and tips on backpacking, meet new people, and just have some fun!

Interests

I am a an avid snacker, and lover of all food. Justin and I both LOVE to learn and explore. We specifically love nature and being able to just take in the beauty.

I want to say that I love to hike but the truth is that I would love to love to hike. Does that make sense?
I love the idea of hiking but I can hardly run half a block without running out of breath so hopefully this year will force me to work out more and become the type of person that loves to hike.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went backpacking in Tunisia for 2 weeks a couple years ago. It was awesome living out of a backpack and I'm so excited to do it again.

Teach, Learn, Share

Justin is a phenomenal writer he can share his processes of writing a poem or songs. I can teach you Korean and talk about Korean culture. I can also consult you on how to market your business if that's something of interest to you!

Since this is our first long backpacking trip we would love to learn tips on how to successfully do it. We would also love to hear backpacking stories if you have any!
