ABOUT ME

Hello, We, Larry and Joy are part of a family of 4 who love to travel and see the world. We met working for Outward Bound as backpacking and canoe instructors so we are quite outdoorsy. Our two sons are 21 and 25. Cory (21) is an avid surfer. Wyll, (25) is also an avid surfer and a aeronautical engineer. We eat healthy and are environmentally and socially conscious.

Well, now that we have discovered cs we will be participating more...We may only check the site every week or so..but if we are around we will probably be happy to host.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Larry stayed with a family a few years ago in the Bay Area and we have hosted 1 person and it was lovely.

Interests

The beauty of nature. The beach. Joy is a Career Counselor at Humboldt State University and Larry is a therapist. We also try to travel every chance we get. We surf, hike, camp, garden, play sports and hang out with our friends. We like animals, kids and people from different countries.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We spent 5 months is Costa Rica when our kids were 7 and 11. While we were there we volunteered at a turtle hatchery. One night we encountered one of the huge turtles. We all got up in the middle of the night to go watch her lay her eggs it was a moment I will never forget. Really, the whole 5 month trip to Costa Rica was a life changing event for all of us. It helped put us on the path of travel and loving Latin America. We all speak some Spanish now and we love to practice.

Teach, Learn, Share

We love to surf and are happy to teach, learn and share that.. Joy is a Career Couselor so I can actually give you great advise on your resume/cover letter and help in your job search. Larry is learning the Bass Guitar and would love to learn more from other surfers...there is so much more, I am sure.

What I Can Share with Hosts

We have some really gorgeous beaches less than a mile from our house. The redwoods are here and pretty much any outdoor sport that you can think of is available here. We often have family dinners and are happy to include you in those.
