About Me

I am Joya, 25 years old and i have been born and raised in Berlin. I have always been very interested in traveling, experiencing all kinds of things, meeting new people, etc..
I started to be interested in making movies when I was a child and I never stopped. I have been writing and directing a few shortfilms. Right now I am developing a Series and my first feature film.
Another nice side-effect that comes from making films, is showing them at festivals worldwide and combine it with traveling and getting to know a new city or country.
I enjoy being with my friends, going to concerts, reading a good book, watching good tv shows, getting to know the world and the people that live in it a little bit better. I love nature and finding hidden places that feel like no one has ever been there before.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing because I love to get to know the people that live in the places I am visiting. My first Couchsurfing experience at a Film Festival in Florida was pretty amazing, so I am really excited to Couchsurf again!

Unfortunately I am living in a shared flat with no room for Couchsurfers, which means that I wasn't able to host anyone so far, but I hope that will change once I am moving into bigger place.

i recently read "When Nietzsche Wept" by Irvin Yalom. A great book. I love Haruki Murakamis Books.

I like lots of indiependent movies that I see at film festivals.
I like GUS VAN SANTs movies, for example ELEPHANT; LAST DAYS and PARANOID PARK. I loved the french movie I'M NOT YOUR F***ING PRINCESS. Or Everything from SOPHIA COPPOLA, like SOMEWHERE. I like the craziness of HARMONY KORINE. There are sooo many!

I like to listen to electronic music from berlin like MODERAT as well as to THE DOORS or the German RIO REISER. I like SOKO and CHINAWOMAN. Sometimes i listen to German HIP HOP as well as to DRAKE. On my current playlist, there are songs from: MOLLY NIELSSON, THE NOTWIST, LONDON GRAMMAR, LYKKE LI, JAMIE T, KENDRICK LAMAR, COLDPLAY, KING KRULE, NIRVANA, LOU REED, SIMON & GARFUNKEL, TOCOTRONIC, THE CURE, HUNDREDS, FOALS, BEACH HOUSE, OK KID, PINK FLOYD, ANDY SCOTT, DJ KOZE, JON HOPKINS, ALEX TURNER, HOLY OTHER, THE NATIONAL, PASSENGER, Rødhåd,THE VELVET UNDERGROUND, THE XX, CHAD VAN GAALEN, I BLAME COCO, GRIM104, LANA DEL RAY, KASHMIR, EFTERKLANG, DARKSIDE, RADIOHEAD, BRIGHT EYES, THE ANTLERS, ANGUS& JULIA STONE and many more...
