About Me

Hi everyone,

So I have been a member to CS for a little while now. I haven't had much experience with it yet, but the experiences that I had were truly great. Let me tell you a little about myself.

I'm 33 years old, living in a cute cottage in the town that I grew up in and where I stated I would never ever go back (but still did). I work as a teacher in a primary school. I love to play sports or be active in some kind of way, but I also like to stay in and watch tv-shows or read. My hobby is to meet up with friends and see what the world is up to. I play football, and next to that I have a new sportinterest every now and then, like tennis, volleybal or bootcamping. I also like to cycle, walk, run, boxing, yoga and meditate. I like to see and learn new things. I am especially interested in geography and history and I'm trying to learn some (basic) Spanish.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm a 33 year old teacher from the Netherlands who likes all sorts of things, but of course, as we all, traveling. I have traveled many trips alone in the past but I find myself feeling a little bit lost sometimes on my journeys on my own. I like having cool, interesting, energetic people around me on my journeys. Since I sometimes have to travel alone, (the alternative is not going), I would very much like to meet people up at my destinations, travelers or locals. This is what I would like to find on CS. I found exactly that when I started couch surfing. I stayed with a guy in Bilbao who met his wife through CS, made an amazing new friend who I visited last year and met some other people through CS.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm into rock music like Pearl Jam, Muse and Scorpions, like 80ties classics. I also like melodic techno, deephouse and tropical house. As long as is artistic and good, not cheap and easy. I can enjoy piano music, or orchestras as well, and ambient. I'd say I'm pretty eclectic.

Favorite artists: Muse, Pearl Jam, Xavier Rudd, NTO, Paul Kalkbrenner, Worakls, Ben Böhmer, Hans Zimmer

Favorite books: Books that I can fully lose myself in. Always has been a huge Potterfan, but I like dystopian SF novels too, and books based on true stories. Currently reading Homo Deus and after I will read Eus by Özcan Akyol.

Movies and shows: I really cannot decide but I truly love Gladiator, Love Actually, Band of Brothers, The last of Us, GOT and The Bodyguard (with Richard Madden), Downton Abbey. I guess my range is pretty wide.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I jumped out of an airplane in Australia, at one of the most beautiful places in the world.

I only had the opportunity once to go skiing, but to me, it is the most awesome thing in the world; wintersports.

Teach, Learn, Share

I need to remind myself that I have to live my dreams, even though working life has come knocking.
