About Me
A long long time ago I saw a quote on the internet,
“We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us.” -Unknown
While this might perhaps be one of the most read travel quote of all time, I have sadly not come to completely experience the depth of this quote personally. Besides the occassional short getaways with my friends to neighbouring countries (which I absolutely enjoyed without a doubt), I rarely travel, and spend majority of my time working part-time or watching videos online. I have not travelled solo nor stepped out of my comfort zone to explore what the world has installed for me. Somehow everything just seemed really impossible.
Through working in a foreign company I've gotten to know many friends from other countries, and that really made me thirst for a trip overseas SO MUCH. I've always wanted to travel, but the desire simply stayed as a thought in my head all these while. I worry about money, overwhelmed myself with insecurities, gave myself uncountable excuses, while constantly being envious of close friends fulfilling their wanderlust dreams. (My amazing best friend did a tour around Europe at the age of 21)
As my day of stepping into the working society comes scarily close, a particular part of Emma Watson's UN speech constantly rings in my head recently.
‘If not me, who? If not now, when?’ (Well maybe only the second sentence is applicable)
I knew that I will definitely regret in the future if I were to spend my youth only thinking about how impossible travelling seems, and yet doing nothing to make anything happen.
As cliche as it sounds, life is too short, make the most out of it. This is my first step in fulfilling my dreams of travelling, and I can't wait to experience what the world has to offer :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My friends shared many positive experiences they had while couchsurfing (how they met wonderful people, the incredible hospitality...), and thus I wanted to give it a shot as well!
