Hello!

We are a couple from Uruguay, which started this trip in July 2018 around South America, just with the things we carry on our backpacks, but tons of entusiasm about knowing people and their cultures, places, animals, etc. Our trip became a little longer, and we hitchhiked to U.S.

The travel was paused at the end of 2020 because of the pandemic situation, and we came back to Uruguay to our parents houses, waiting until the world normalizes a little bit.
Finally, we started again in 2022, with recharged batteries and eager to meet new people and cultures around the world.
And this time we crossed the ocean for the first time!

We travel aimlessy and without time limits.
We want to take our time to know the people around us, their villages, their culture, and whatever it appears on our way.

We travel by hitchhiking or walking, and we try to keep a very short budget, wasting just the necessary for living (it´s the only way we can make this trip).
We prefer to focus on things you can´t touch as people feelings, thoughts, etc.

Our work is to write for our website, which it takes us some time but it worth it because is our legacy. All our travel memories are in there (is in spanish but we installed plugin to translate it in 25 languages on a very decent way).

We also publish a book with short stories I wrote some years ago, more to achieve a dream than to make money (because, let´s get realistic... the book sold a few many copies).

We like couchsurfing for so many reasons, but we can explain it later.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

🙊So, why are we in Couchsurfing?

Which people thinks but nobody tell you: ok, we understand Couchsurfing is a very practical app to save money, because someone like us couldn´t travel this much if we have to pay an hotel everyday, or we couldn´t rest a single day if we have to sleep inside our tent everyday, and such a great tiredness could end the trip prematurely (because we are not 20 anymore haha).

Ok, this is something we can´t deny.

🧡But it´s not the only thing you can get with couchsurfing, and it is not the most beautiful part of it.

💚The most importan thing about Couchsurfing: we are on this website, mainly to find people around the world. But not just any people, but this people who likes to share their culture, knowledge and kindness with us.

💙We love to realise in every town we visit, that the world is full of good people who reach the good and not the opposite, as the TV wants us to make believe.

💜Also, get to know a country trough the eyes of a local is always better than read a "Lonely planet" guide.

💛Last but not least, the same way you let a mark on us, we would love to let a mark on you too, a positive one, maybe just a little recommendation of a movie who touch your heart, or maybe a new thought who opens new visions, or maybe the little push you may need to go travel the world.

We see this Website as an exchange of help, culture, and knowledge.

And so many times Couchsurfing became into that family every traveler needs from time to time.

So yes, Couchsurfing has so many lovely things! Sometimes we question ourselves "what we did to receive so much kindness around?".

Interests

We are usually known as "frikis"... why you ask?

*** 👀 ANIME AND MANGA 🗾 ***

We saw a lot of anime series and movies (we even known each other thanks to this) and we also have some series now on our hard drive... just in case of emergency.

Yes, we already did cosplay many times, not just for conventions, but also to go to the cinema or go to the supermarket.

We are kinda "old school" so some of our favourites series are:

-Serial Experiments Lain
-Evangelion
-Cowboy Bebop
-Mosnter
-Death Note
........... etc ..............

And the movies from Ghibli and Makoto Shinkai are the best.

*** 📚 COMICS 👾 ***

Ok, we dont read a looooot of comics.
In this couple, I am the one who reads more comic (Joy) and some of my favourites are: "V for Vendetta", "El Eternauta", "Blacksad".
I am reading now a lot of comics on an app.

*** 🎮 VIDEOGAMES 🕹️ ***

On this topic we like some old school games (like a lot) and some others not so old.

Truth is Wa is much more accurate for videogames which requires point and shot (shooter games). One of the games we like to play the most is the terror ones, but in this case, Wa uses the joystick and I just use my brain to help him solve the puzzles, because if it is me who uses the joystick on this kind of games, the joystick will fly away in front of the first zombie.

But I can actively participate in rol games, mmorpg, graphic adventures, etc.
I will always be the sorceress, and Wa will always be the archer.

Of course we like the classic games: NES, SNES, GBA, PS2, etc.

We used to work on IT before the trip, but the real brain in this is Wa.
He also loves to modify games, better than play it, and he loves to solve informatic problems.

The last year he was exploring a lot the world of the web design and promgramation because of the website.

Music, Movies, and Books

***🎵 MUSIC 🎸***

We used to play instruments in Uruguay, Wa plays guitar and keyboard, and I can play drums.

We really like so many music genres... but mostly rock (from the 60´s, 70´s, 80´s, and 90´s). Wa really likes progressive rock and I really enjoy rock-pop and punk music.
We also like classical music, and some other instrumental genres.

Wa can listen to sooo much quiet music, and I am the opposite, I can liste to "happy music" all day.

*** 🎥 MOVIES 🎬***

We saw so many movies in the last years (more than 500) so yes, we can recommend some movies to you, or we can watch a new one together.

We saw Hollywood films, but our favourites are some indie movies, or from far away countries.

Some years ago, we just watched horror movies, so nowadays is very difficult to get scared with a movie.

Oir favourite kind of movies are the ones that makes you think, for example "1984", "clockwork orange", "memento", "12 angry men", etc.

Ok, this is my special area (Joy).
I love to read since I was a little girl, and my favourite genres are: black novel, SCI-FI, distopias, and classics.

My favourites books are:
-The Neverending Story
-1984
-El Gran Gatsby
-A brave new world
-Almost any book from agatha Christie

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

⏺We born: we beat a race against to many others "born possibilities" so... we are kinda champions here.

⏺️ We left the security of a stable life to start travelling with non stop and no time limits.
We swam against the tide, which is a pretty important thing to us.

⏺️ We climb the Fitz Roy in "El Chalten" (Argentina) in the middle of the snow, in winter.

⏺️ We camp in the middle of the Uyuni salt camp, with such a violent wind who tried to make us fly with tent and all.

⏺️ We´ve been stucked on a "Twilight Zone" chapter, when we spend 4 days hitchhiking in Mabura, a little village in Guyana.
It was quite an experience.

⏺️ We visit a parallel world, by staying in Montevideo Minnesota, the sister city of Montevideo Uruguay.
