About Me
CURRENT MISSION
get back to my old self - happy, cheerful, crazy, doing things that I haven't done before
ABOUT ME
I've had a lot of sh*t in the past couple of years, and what I took away from it is - as cliché as it may sound - you only live once: make something great of it!
for the rest: I'm a foodie, a storyteller, a language lover, a hiker, yogi, party girl, reader, ... Basically I love all things that make life worthwile!
PHILOSOPHY
look after yourself and others, talk and listen to everyone you meet, bathe in the sun and gaze at the moon
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've been out for a while - personal stuff etc. etc. - but trying to get back into it; as of September 2018 I have my own place to live again so I'll be able to host again, yey!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
have been active in Florence but then lived in other people's houses for quite some time, so couldn't host - however, all that's over soon (September 2018) so I get get in the game again ;)
Interests
travel, languages, outdoors, sun, sea, sand, good food, meeting new people from all over the world (I love talking to random people on buses, trains, airplanes, etc.)

Music, Movies, and Books
I love movies that make me cry, laugh, that show beauty or tell an engaging story - for the rest, anything goes: French, Italian, American, Japanese, ... - blockbuster or small arthouse movie, ... ; I used to watch a lot of films, lost touch with the film scene for several years, and now trying to get back on track - last film I saw, La Grande Bellezza, I loved to bits - other all-time favourites: La meglio gioventù, Old boy, Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain, but also things like Legend of the Fall, Four weddings and a Funeral, Gran Torino, ...
I love many different kinds of music, but know too little about it, alas - again, have missed out on much for years, but trying to catch on again. I used to love the Rolling Stones, Steve Miller Band, Live, Janis Joplin, Moby, Blue Note jazz, Molly Johnson, but also quite happy with Beyoncé or Basement Jaxx when out partying (which again, alas, happens not nearly often enough) - so hit and miss, I guess, but please, do educate me on music!
books ... I feel like I can never read enough ... I love many different kinds of literature and like reading in different languages ; anything goes, from Jane Austen to John Irving, Gabriel Garcia Marquez to John Steinbeck, Marco Vicchi to Agatha Christie (yes, I do like Poirot! I went off it when I was 18 or so but recently rediscovered it and wauw, Christie's a great author!). When I was younger, I vowed to finish every book I started - I gave up that vow some years ago and really, my pleasure in reading has much improved since!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
at the moment, I find everything amazing - and no, I'm not on drugs !
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you Dutch, English, Italian and French; I can teach you how to cook great Italian food; and how to be a fantastic historian ;)
I want to learn new languages (particularly interested in Spanish, Greek, and Arabic but anything goes); hear about good books you read and movies you saw; and I should learn some digital stuff (GIS ie. mapmaking, webdevelopment, etc. but doubtful that anyone on Couchsurfing would want to teach me that lol)
What I Can Share with Hosts
Further, i can tell you all you need to know about migration to the Belgian city of Ghent in the postwar period :p
kidding aside, I can and like to share with you my love for languages, food, nature, small places, history; a good meal at my home or in a local diner
