About Me

Hello, I'm JP (or Joao Pedro, or Jean Pierre)! I'm a really open-minded guy, I want to travel more and more and get to know people from all over the world and share my world with them (if they up to do the same!). Learn more about different cultures, places, languages (right now I want to learn french). What inspires me is the people around the world, each of them has an entire world inside them. It would be amazing to exchange that.

I have volunteered twice in Hostels back in Sao Paulo (Brazil) where I used to live. Doing reception, welcoming guests, housekeeping, maintaining the Hostel clean and in order, social media, and working in events/bar.

I'm a very active person, I really like to exercise, run, cycle. But I also enjoy very quiet activities, such as reading books and doing writing myself. And watching films, I'm an absolute film/cinema lover! I went to acting school but now I want to move towards filmmaking and creating my own projects, so I've been creating experimental videos and doing a lot of smartphone filmmaking.

Since July 2018 I have been living in Manchester, UK and recently I volunteered at an Art/Photography gallery in Liverpool (Open Eye Gallery), at Liverpool Film Festival, and at an Art Installation called AURORA, by Invisible Flock and FACT Liverpool. Also I worked closely as a Costume Designer Assistant at Touchstones Rochdale in Manchester, in a beautiful dance/performance project. Incredible experiences that connected me with the art world.

I've done WORKAWAY twice, one in Portugal in a beach retreat, and now I'm currently in Belgium working in a museum & contemporary art space, sculpture park. It's been an incredible experience and I couldn't be more excited to be taking part of.

Film, cinema, art, acting, music and photography are all passions of mine. Being creative and sharing experiences together, that's what I'm looking for. And of course, to always learn with each other.

JP

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a huge film enthusiastic! (In fact, I want to work on it) and i really like to watch films. french cinema is probably my favourite one, i like european films as well, and some independent american productions are good too. I'm always open/interested in seeing new films from different countries.

Favourite directors includes: Wes Anderson, Gaspar Noe, Lars Von Trier, Kleber Mendonça Filho, Darren Aronofsky, Celine Sciamma, Sofia Coppola, Olivier Assayas, Xavier Dolan, Hayao Miyazaki, Bong Joon-Ho, Damián Szifron, Noah Baumbach, Greta Gerwig, Drake Doremus, Hong Sang-soo and I could go on and on...

My favourite book is The Catcher in The Rye by J.D. Salinger, The Curious Incident of The Dog in The Night Time by Mark Haddon, The House on The Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros. Right now I'm currently reading a book about cinema.

Music wise I like to be open to listen to new music, but I'm into indie and its vertentes, some classic/instrumental songs, experimental, techno for partying and dancing, and many more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Working and living inside a museum, being around art works all day & night.

Teach, Learn, Share

I speak English since I was a child, and I can speak Portuguese (native language) and Spanish as well. I'm also very good with photography, film, art, social media, reception (front of the house), I've worked in bars and in a Cruise Ship in the past, and twice in Hostels. I'm willing to learn more and more.

I'm very active and a fast learner.
