ABOUT US

My girlfriend Brigitte and I are a Portuguese couple that has been living in Madrid for a few years.
We both work here for some time. She is a Chemical/Biological Engineer and I am a Biomedical Engineer.

Although we liked our jobs very much, our real passion is traveling so in 2017 we decided to jump into the adventure train:

- On July 17th 2017 we started our long-awaited ROUND THE WORLD Trip!
It was something we had been working a lot towards and we just couldn't delay it any longer :)

Colombia-Ecuador-Peru-Bolivia-Chile-Argentina-Uruguai-Brasil are the countries we visited before the end of 2017.
In 2018 we have been to Peninsular Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Laos, Cambodja, Malaysian Borneu, Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Philippines, Hong Kong, Macau and last but not least Japan!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Before moving to Madrid, I only met 3 couchsurfers:
- One was Zach, a cool American guy who was traveling around Portugal with his girlfriend Soraya. Back then I was living with my parents so I could only show him around my hometown, but we had a crazy fun day anyway! My mom even cooked for us, and my dad helped with some bottles of portuguese wine.
- The other one was Céline, a french girl that I met in a beergarten in Munich during a company dinner. I was finished with my meetings at the office and I had an early flight the next morning, so I had my suitcase with me and I would have to sleep at the airport. Turns out she was a couchsurfer living nearby, so she gave a mattress to crash, just like that!

In our first place in Madrid, we got to host some people: two guys from Malaysia studying in Egypt, one girl from Taiwan and a Portuguese girl as well (this last one twice!).

During the World Trip we were hosted by some amazing people from all over the world... so many cool stories that it's difficult to count them!

And now we are back in Madrid and frequently hosting again :)

- Nature and Wildlife
- Trekking - we both love long walks in the wild
- Foodies - we want to learn how to cook foreign stuff and also teach our own cuisine. We have cooked for some CSs, both hosts and guests, and we also took a cooking classes in Thailand and Japan.

JOÃO
- One of my biggest passions has always been Karate. I practice it since I was 7 years old.
- Medical Technology - another thing that interests me. It's the core of my academic and professional background and it's awesome to see how technology works so well and so closely with human physiology.
