About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Would like to dance everywhere in the world

ABOUT ME

Life is a gift. Let's enjoy it as much as we can. A good means to get into touch with people is by dancing: salsa, Argentine tango, bachata. Most of the time people smile when they dance. I certainly do, although I still have to think about the figures and moves I'm doing. I cannot close my eyes, which is in contrast to many of the women I dance tango with.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is a gift. Let's enjoy it and smile as much as we can!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

By offering a place to sleep when I am at home, and by trying to create a feeling of "home, sweet home".

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have been couch surfing guests just once so far, while in Zürich on our way back from the Dolomites. We had to sleep on the floor, but we didn't mind. We wanted to go dancing in Zürich and could do so. Our host Matthias was easygoing and helpful. A fine experience!

Since then we have hosted several people from different countries, such as Mexico, France, the United States, Slovakia. The Italians were great pasta cooks, the Americans adorable tango dancers, the French and Mexican very interesting and nice persons. One thing I will have to alter though: I must try not to be too enthousiastic and not take the initiative to be the only one who cooks a meal and pay for all the food.

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't have time to read books. I like to listen to music and like all kinds of music, except jazz and hardrock. A movie I recently saw and enjoyed tremendously was "Australia". However, regarding books, I recently wrote a book on the history of Argentine tango. It's on my website www.jptangosalsa.tk

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Visiting Bora Bora, Easter Island, Namibia, Argentina, Costa Rica, Bali (twice)...
Going to the final of the European soccer championship to watch Liverpool against Bruges.
Dancing salsa alongside the canals in Venice.
Going to concerts of Shakira, Mark Anthony, Eros Ramazotti, The Corrs, etc.
Watching my children been born and grow up
Visiting wonderful gardens in England, such as Hidcote, Sissinghurst and many more.
Making tasteful travel movies on Cuba, Sicily, Mali.
Building a non commercial website on tango and salsa, with hundreds of pictures and video reports.
Etc.

Teach, Learn, Share

At the moment I'm no longer taking classes of Argentine tango, but now and then still try to learn new steps that I see in demos or on the internet. I stopped following courses of salsa, but occasionally still learn new figures.
I've also followed piano courses and am currently studying to know how to play "La valse d'Amélie Poulain"
