About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Not to get raped

ABOUT ME

I'm a cautious optimist. I believe people have the ability to be inspiring, great, and super kind - but I've also seen a lot of fucked up shit. Still, I think it's all good in the grand scheme of things. As Bob Marley once said, "Don't worry, be happy."

PHILOSOPHY

Why is philosophy not popular anymore? Because Greek philosophers never procreated, they were too busy playing with little boys

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Surfed in Southeast Asia while I was traveling there. I was surprised by how many very traditional Asian people wanted to welcome travelers into their homes. These people had next to nothing in comparison to North American standards, but they still opened their homes and hearts out to me - It gave me hope.

Interests

Art - I love everything about art. I breathe art. I love everything about it, composition, lighting, value, texture. Everything. But don't worry, I wouldn't call myself an art snob. I just like to observe things.Philosophy - gaining wisdom; it's also an exercise in observation. I also like imagination and "what if" questions. I'll go with any train of thought to the last station. I like to hear other perspectives.Music - learning about music, playing guitar, singing, but only when I'm a bit tipsy, cause I'm actually a bit shy about that.Stand-up Comedy: Mitch Hedberg, Louis CK, Joe Rogan, Dave Chapelle are some of my favorites. Life is a joke we're playing with ourselves.

Music, Movies, and Books

Gandhi, Forrest Gump, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Peaceful Warrior, The Nightmare before Christmas, zombie moviesCurrently I'm listening to the new Arcade Fire album - good. But I'll go through phases of listening to everything from gangsta rap to folk to electronic. Still, I'll also go back to indie rock.My favorite book of all time has to be "Le Petite Prince" - it has everything, imagination, philosophy, and a powerful simple message.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I tend to throw myself into crazy wild fires, figuratively. The first most crazy thing I did was I went on a week long canoe trip with 2 of my best friends in an open canoe in the open Pacific Ocean, traveling for days from one island to the next island. Looking back now, it was reckless and stupid. But it was one of the best memories of my life and it showed me what incredible and amazing things we could achieve. In 2010, I backpacked alone into SE Asia. It was the first time I had traveled by myself, and the first time out of North America. I met some gangsters, meth addicts, got scammed, made friends, got broken, got healed - it was an awe inspiring time and I learned so much.Somehow I ran into a modeling agent in Thailand that offered me some work. 2011, I did that for about half a year, rubbed shoulders with Thai celebrities and models. I thought I was going to get a TV show in Thailand, but when that didn't work out, I got tired of it and moved back to Vancouver.Back in Canada, my mission is to develop myself as an artist and a person.

Teach, Learn, Share

Miyoto Mushashi once said, "Once you see the way broadly, you can see it in all things."I think life is a giant lesson in observation, thinking, and practice. I want to be able to say that I put a lot of effort into mastering one thing and have a lot of adventures and fun while I'm doing it.I think an important part of living is finding good people to have around you. People who aspire to be kind, sharing, and great - we need good people in our lives to inform our beliefs."Our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate, it is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is not our darkness that scares us, but our light. When you allow yourself to shine, you give others the permission to do so as well."I forgot who said that. But I think that's totally true. We're all in this together and we're here to inspire eachother.
