About Me
CURRENT MISSION
finally waking up...
ABOUT ME
I am an innately curious person, which is how I ended up pursuing an advanced graduate degree. I love to read all types of books and really should spend more time writing fiction. I also like to watch movies that leave me puzzled, intrigued, or pulse racing. I prefer cats to dogs because of their independence. One of my favorite quotes is a line from an Ani Difranco song: "it took me too long to realize that I don't take good pictures 'cause I have the kind of beauty that moves". We are at our most beautiful when we are in action.
PHILOSOPHY
Tout s'en va, tout passe, l'eau coule, et le coeur oublie.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I love meeting people from around the world and opening your home to them is a great way to do so. I have only hosted so far but I am looking forward to surfing at some point in the future.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
While in graduate school, I often opened my house to people passing through Salt Lake City, Utah, people who simply needed a place to stay for a night or more. I have also spent many fun nights with friends, crashed on the little floor space available to me as we try to fit 20 people in a house or apartment. These sorts of experiences remind me of the joys of being a social creature. You can get high off of sharing. I have been lucky enough to host a few times since moving to Europe, both in Sevilla and Paris. One visitor even stayed at both my places, first in Sevilla and then Paris :)

Music, Movies, and Books
The Secretary (movie), Jean de Florette and Manon des Sources (movies), most Miyazaki movies but especially Howl's Moving Castle. I recently loved Vicky Cristina Barcelona. Most books by Anais Nin, Paul Auster, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Margaret Atwood, Margerite Duras, Milan Kundera...there are just too many. I am addictively drawn to Michel Houellebecq even though he is terrible on my psyche.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When I graduated from college, I hiked the John Muir trail with three friends. It took us sixteen days but we passed through eternity to finally reach Mount Whitney. Life can be reduced to so little and yet still hold so much.
