ABOUT ME

I'm a writer based in NYC with a focus on international science reporting. I've traveled in 28 countries and reported from many them.

Recent travels include Belize, France (again), Costa Rica, Panama, Turkey (again) and Colombia—where I took my 8-year-old son on his first international trip. We're just returned from his 5th country—Nicaragua.

NYC has been my home for 25 years, so I know it very well. With my help, you can explore things you might not find otherwise. Many people around the world have done this for me, and I can only pass on their generosity to others.

PHILOSOPHY

My two travel mottos:
- I travel to see how people live, not to see the sites
- Having an adventure is not necessarily the same as having a good time, and I want an adventure.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am open to respectful, responsible, couchsurfers who are independent—we can hang out a bit too, of course, but I'm pretty busy. I'm also happy to meet for a walk, food, drink, music, art, advice, etc.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My Couch Surfing profile has been idle for a long time! I was with Hospitality Club for many years and had lots of memorable experiences. I'm still friends with many of the people I met. I've hosted or been hosted by travelers from China, Vietnam, India, Turkey, Finland, Portugal, the Netherlands, the UK and the US.

Discovered Bronze Age stone anchors while diving newly discovered underwater archaeological sites on the Turquoise Coast (Turkish Mediterranean).
