ABOUT ME
I was pretty boring until a year ago, when I quit school and became a disaster relief volunteer. I spent several months on the gulf coast after hurricane Katrina, where I learned to play guitar and do all kinds of crazy manual labor. Then I went to Indonesia, where I shovelled bricks and saw orangutans. Now I am wandering around, volunteering here and there, trying to find my place in the world and maybe a philosophy of life. Right at the moment I'm waiting tables in Boston and more or less living at the library.
PHILOSOPHY
Do things I'm afraid of, experience as much as I can, and try to help others in the process.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I maybe have a couch, and am always interested in meeting travelers. I don't know Boston well enough to give much of a tour, but I'm up for exploring together!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Plenty of crashing on the couches of friends, and a couple of wondeful experiences being hosted by people from couchsurfing.com.

Music, Movies, and Books
books: Kurt Vonnegut, Alice Walker, Inga Muscio
music: folk, punk, a little of everything
movies: don't watch many. Liked "Waking Life"
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Being taught to build a roof in an an Indonesian disaster zone, by a person I could only communicate with in hand gestures
Teach, Learn, Share
Exciting tales of disaster zones and crazy volunteer culture! I can hook people up with some contact information if you're interested in trying volunteer work yourself (it's easier than you think!). Um... I know a lot about mold removal and a little about roofing. You'd be welcome to play the guitar I'm traveling with, but I'm not good enough at it to teach much.
