About Me

I love the outdoors, travel, pretty much anything but sitting on a couch. I live with my girlfriend and labrador retriever. My girlfriend is pretty skeptical about couchsurfing at this point, so if I don't accept your request please don't be offended.

A NOTE ABOUT COUCHSURFING

I've been couchsurfing for a long time, long before it was a for-profit company. I really, really dislike the fact that it has become a hookup app for some folks. If I or my girlfriend (who I live and travel with) notice you're trying to use couchsurfing for that, expect to get reported to couchsurfing admins.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It's a great way to not only really get to know a new place, but meet people from all over the world in my own hometown.

Interests

Anything outdoors, sports, cultures and languages, whitewater kayaking, rock climbing, fishing, backpacking, reading, flying, scuba diving, trying to slow the getting-fat process, learning to surf, and of course travel

Music, Movies, and Books

Just like everybody else, "I listen to anything" but you'd have a pretty hard time finding metal or country on my ipod.

I like to read ie listen to audiobooks, Jon Krakauer and Jeffrey Sachs are two of my favorite authors. Read "The End of Poverty" by Sachs, especially if you like economics. Seems like a lot of people liked the movie "Into the Wild"...if you've seen the movie but haven't read the book you're missing out.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveling through Central/South America for 9 months with a backpack was pretty fantastic

Teach, Learn, Share

"Skills" I could share?

Scuba bubble blowing, whitewater rafting and kayaking, other outdoors stuff (who doesn't want to be Les Stroud, ie the legit Bear Grylls), math?

Things I really want to learn...

Long distance sailing seems like a lot of fun. Really need to work on my Spanish and French, and I need to pick up an instrument-I'm thinking the violin
