About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See, learn, share.

ABOUT ME

I am easy going, adventurous, and open minded! I love to travel and see new places; I've been told I have gypsy blood. I am fascinated by the history of places. When I am in a places with lots of history I try to imagine the place as it was hundreds of years ago.

PHILOSOPHY

I have several. Leave no trace - which comes from my backpacking/outdoor adventure background. Live and let live - the more I travel and learn about other peoples and cultures the more this rings true. Enjoy the moment - life comes at you fast.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Meeting people and sharing experiences.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Lots of informal couchsurfing, but when I started to travel Europe I got into the CS community and was really blown away by the experience. It's a fantastic way to meet people and get a better feel for a place.

Interests

I am interested in history; not only the history I study formally but also the history of the places I visit and I hope to go. I love sports! Particularlly football but also baseball, soccer, basketball etc... I enjoying being outdoors: mountain biking, riding horses, hiking, kayaking, whatever.

Music, Movies, and Books

Wide variety of musical interests that is still evolving. Southern rock, rock, red dirt country, classical, punk...

I'm reading all the time. As a historian it's kind of part of the gig.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Guided pack trips in the Rocky Mountains. We spent weeks in the backcountry with what was in the saddle bags and on the pack horses. It's a different world when you completely unplug.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can certainly teach anyone about U.S. history and German history! I love to teach history so if anyone wants an impromptu history lesson I'm the guy for the job. I homebrew beer and really enjoy trying new beers when I'm out and about.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good conversation and a willingness to do the dishes!

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Canada, England, France, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden

Countries I’ve Lived In
