ABOUT ME
I think I am an affable person who enjoys himself, loves to learn and laugh, and want to experience as much as I can. But I also think actions speak louder than adjectives, so please read on if you are interested in surfing with me.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
The first person I ever hosted was a young fellow from England. He had been travelling for many months and was about to embark on a bike trip across Canada. Unfortunately, he had his bike stolen, and was at his wits end about what to do when he showed up at my house. He hadn't eaten much beyond pasta for a couple of weeks, so when I asked him what he would really like for lunch he responded emphatically "Bacon!". I cooked up an entire package and set it down between the two of us. One greasy meal later, and I had a good friend with whom I've kept in touch ever since.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I sailed, with 40 other people, from Hawaii to Tahiti.
Teach, Learn, Share
I have an undergraduate level grasp of several academic topics, including contemporary political philosophy and international development theory. In this vein I am happy to teach writing style, editing, and research skills. I am also interested in organizational performance improvement through disciplined collaboration and have some knowledge of facilitation and group process improvement. On a more practical note, I am happy to teach swing dance, first aid, swimming, and sailing, and am competent in the basics of most other outdoor activities.
