About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Experience the other side of the globe!

ABOUT ME

I graduated from University of Florida with a major in Spanish and Geology.I took a year off and lived in Santiago de Compostela as an English teacher. Since then, I returned stateside to work on my Master's at NIU. Which I followed up with a year working/traveling Australia as the job market wasn't the best. I really love traveling, and experiencing new cultures. I'm an easy-going guy, and it takes a lot to get me mad. Though I studied to be a geologist, I would make a kick ass travel agent for young people who don't have a lot of money to spend on their travels.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted and surfed various times. Unfortunately my place in DeKalb, Il was not as appealing as my flat in Santiago de Compostela for surfers, so I haven't been able to participate in a while.

Interests

I'm a big sports fan, and unfortunately my South Florida upbringing made me a Dolphins fan. I also enjoy playing them, especially pick up basketball (I'm usually picked last, but it's ok). When I'm at home, I like to attempt to paint/draw with varying levels of success, do some language study (German is currently on the docket), and plan my next destination.

Music, Movies, and Books

I feel like this is a weird dating profile question, but The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho is a must-read for fellow travelers. As for movies, I enjoy the shitty dramas the produce in Spain (I'm looking at you Ocho Apellidos Vascos) so I can practice my Spanish and reminisce about my time in Spain. Also City of God. Damn that was a good movie.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once did a hand-stand that lasted almost 3 seconds. Pretty proud right there.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I've had a lot of interesting experiences in my travels, and I love sharing stories with fellow couchsurfers as well as advice for those interested in traveling abroad.

Countries I’ve Visited

France, Germany, Guatemala, New Zealand, Peru, Portugal, Spain
