ABOUT ME

The most dominant force in my life is my status as a student at the University of Michigan. I'm going for Art History and specializing in Ancient Roman Art, Architecture and Archaeology. My responsiblities towards finishing my degree are the only things keeping my feet rooted but I'm always looking for any opportunity (and time) to travel.

I've always been a hyper-responsible person; I have friends who call me "Mom" and I'm pretty sure that I turned 40 a couple summers ago.

I'm also an independent soul. I love being alone; most of my friends don't understand how I am perfectly content doing everything by myself...travelling, shopping, hanging out, getting around, or just being. Of course, I don't quite get the whole be surrounded by people as much as possible approach...but I've found the right balance and it works for me.

PHILOSOPHY

I've found that life is about balance...between sanity and insanity, procrastination and productivity, friends and family, and dependence and independence.

I just returned from a road trip and surfed in three places along the way. I had great experiences along the way and I'm ready to give back!

Movies: All time favorites: Good Will Hunting, Amelie, and Hot Fuzz. Favorite directors: Sam Mendes and Jean-Pierre Jeunet. Actors: Ralph Fiennes, Kate Winslet, Jake Gyllenhaal...among others. I love foreign films, although I haven't been watching many as of late.

Music: Indie mostly...Okkervil River, Andrew Bird, Sufjan Stevens, Voxtrot, Band of Horses, Bon Iver, Belle and Sebastian, The Shins, Elliott Smith. Motown was my first love; Smokey Robinson, Temps, Four Tops, Martha Reeves. The all-influencing Beatles and Johnny Cash. I have a special spot in my heart for Blues and Soul...Albert King, Little Willie John, Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, Al Green, Louis Armstrong. And I love classical piano. But I don't like 70s...there's very little from the 70s that I like.

I went to Paris and had a private tour of the Louvre with the curator of Dutch arts when the museum was closed. No lines or people anywhere.

Given my passion for Roman History, I could talk your ear off about anything from Ancient Rome. My particular favorite topic is Death mouments and rituals; I've spent the past three semesters reseaching that topic...it's just an itch I can't stop scratching. But I can absolutely share what I know about the Romans, in general--which is still a lot ;)

I would also love to share those little regional differences that are still left in today's mass corporate world.
